A conglomeration of science and art
Art and science can't be away from each other. I had never dreamt that I would become a writer. My field was only science. I am an engineer. All of a sudden god gave me the power to write songs and small laughter buddies and that too in 4 languages. All 4 I knew earlier only. My husband was mocking telling,"As soon as they see your degree, they'll give off prize to you in poetry competition."
They Are Always The Same
We live in something called ' universe' which is as much science as it is an art. Even before prompting this particular challenge you should have known that anything and everything in this crazy world is interconnected...
Science and art - no exceptions here as well. You say "Life is science." I agree to disagree, because without the art of word you would not have been able to speak out, or in the first place you would've been unable to write the challenge! Life is a confluence of art and science.
Without one the other can't live. Without one the other can't breathe.
Art and science, they are the same thing. What differs is the 'perspective'.
When you look at a person or an object or a scenic vista - what you first comprehend depends on how you think, scientifically or non-scientifically. By non scientific I precisely mean, observations based on emotions, feelings etc.
When you express an art, it is verbally or manually or maybe just something going on in your mind. Any kind of action can be linked with a scientific evaluation.. You speak or think or write or paint because the nervous system is at work with your hands, your mouth, and so on. Life is moving on as the entire system of your body is so busy.
The earth is rotating and revolving, you will definitely say it's different from a piece of poem, perhaps?
I am here to prove you wrong and that is why I believe : Everything is same. Whether you speak of art or science, it really doesn't matter.
At the end of the day you express science through art and you design art through science.
If you haven't yet got my point and still lost in a dilemma, just step out of your house and look up at a tree.
You will see a living system thriving on photosynthesis, nonetheless a creation that is home to life and nurtures life. Look at anything and you will find art and science melting into one another.
The stars, the sky, the fields and flowers. The technologies and inventions.. Investment and business.. They are art in creation and science in method.
They are the same.. Everywhere the same.
Different but similar
It is normal that they have different things, different aspects and sometimes even different views. But stating that they are always different in every way may be unjust for both of them.
In fact for example when you see blowing mind mathematical equations, or when you see a painter who uses chemistry to make brilliant materials to draw his paintings or when you see how geometrical shapes that are nothing but pure and brilliant geometry, used to make monuments more beautiful, you can’t think only about art although what is used is science.
On the other hand arts can be used to bring science in value. There have been a lot of creative writings that took science as subject, but more than that some writers use a scientific way in writing. Like it is art but you see a scientist through it not a writer.
I think it all depends on how you see things too. My friend once was asked about what she gained from maths because that was our field of studies. From the things she said; she told them when she studied the ‘complex’ course; then she saw how people should find solutions. How we should not give up when we come to a wall or to what looks like an end. By thinking about the element “i” in complex, they even created a whole new group of numbers and further opportunities in maths. Also she said that if you keep adding negative numbers you get a negative number, the only way to get a positive result is to include positive numbers and they have to exceed the negative ones. Like that in life she said; if we get problems and we give up to negativity, that will give us only more negative things and more problems. Like we see, she didn’t see numbers in maths, but she saw art and even life.
Science and arts both explore, seek creativity and inventions to enlighten people, if science do it through ways, products, scientific equations and so , arts do it through words, images, ideas, colours speeches and so. So like I said in the beginning, it is normal that they have differences but in deep they are similar, because they may have the same goals and they need the same elements too like creativity, working hard, learning, noticing, having an open mind…
In conclusion and in my modest opinion I think that science and art are complementary and when we can see in which ways they are close to each other then we can make brilliant and outstanding things; that would be a great gate towards creativity and getting improved.
I am, so they aren’t
At the top of my head:
Geometry in architecture
Math in music
Optic in photography
Chemistry in painting
Physics in sculpture
Should I go on?
If art and science were different in every way.
Incompatible, if I may say.
I wouldn't exist, as my cartesian mind finds logic in art and the dreamer inside of me finds beauty in numbers.
Art Vs Science
My take would be they are substantially different as in the most important factor ing (in my opinion) that science is factors existing with some level of proof as in art to me is more expression. Almost metaphysically ingesting certain aspects of the world around you and returning that energy to the world in a way for others but more unique from self.
