A man among women
I'm a man among fourteen women
One of them is my boss
One of them is not my boss but acts like one
And in all their eyes I see suspicion
The rest are my colleagues or so they say
And who am I to say nay?
By that doctrine alone no giving or getting is grey
Yet it doesn't always seem that way
In their time of dismay I am invited
In their time of frolic I am excluded
It seems they have a code that makes them united
Humanity does not seem a term included
Come summer they wear something open
Then sham me for having eyes
I look straight ahead as if no one's there
But even that doesn't to seem the best exercise
Their eyes look in my book and read me
Then dismiss so many facts that are me
Simply because that's not the way they want to see me
Attempted alterations just assure appended animosity
It seem we're together in meetings of minds
But meetings of hearts are frowned upon
We're one of kind but made sure to be two kinds
And feelings is just us with the lip sync on
I, from a distance, see them all at one
They seem to stand togehter no matter what
Yet as I get into their midst I see then each one
Discriminated against with no clear if, and or but
I wonder if a woman among fourteen men
Would they all join to brand her an anomaly?
Or would they all join to give her leeway?
Make sure she's led everywhere safely?
Then tell her story with pride to everyone around
And find her flaws sweeped under the carpet
And if her voice is heard, there isn't another sound
And if her voice is sharp, there wouldn't be one over her that's shaprer
Yes, men are who they are and can't be changed
But well-bred men understand where to draw the line
How many of them are truly the ones deranged?
How many, with dread, tread a line that's truly fine?
I'm a man among fourteen women
Sometimes I enjoy the company and the pleasure
I dislike the simmering suscpicion
That leads to doing ill and that's someone's lesiure
little did you know
"I forgot how to be happy.
I can give advice to everyone surrounding me,
But I find in myself, crippling emotions.
I am detached from my own feelings, and never find fulfillment in my daily routines."
"I can help you be happy.
I have heard your advice, heard the way you help other.
And in you, I see potential.
You are strong and you are kind, and I find fulfillment in you."
