Julia, James and the White Umbrella
The rain pattered down, it had been a while since rain decided to pelt against the concrete pavements. Most people ran with their coats above their heads trying to block a little bit of the rain but luckily James and Julia had an umbrella and were walking together as one. The umbrella was quite ordinary, it’s handle was black, but the canopy was all white. Julia held on closely to the umbrella as if in just seconds it would all blow away into the abyss of the great dark blue sky, and James held onto her hand, just in case.
“I told you we would need an umbrella. You can’t trust the weather forecast.” Julia said, and James just smiled back contently.
“and you just happened to bring this umbrella.” James teased.
Julia blushed “Well, I was just in a hurry. The umbrella itself has nothing to do with it, I knew it was going to rain.”
“When was it?”
“Huh?”
“When was it, the last time you brought out this umbrella?”
Julie turned red.
“Oh, shut up, I didn’t mean to hit you with the umbrella. It was an accident.”
“What do you mean you didn’t try to hit me. You hit me in the face multiple times.”
“Well in my defence you shouldn’t have put your hand in my bag, even if you dropped your phone in my bad you could have just told me.”
“and risked getting hit in the face with the umbrella?”
“Ha. Ha.”
Julia and James smirked at each other. James reached over and took Julia’s hand.
“I’m glad you hit me in the face with your umbrella.” James softly said.
“Why’s that?”
“…Because I met you.”
Julia and James smiled at each other again and with the umbrella in hand they walked home together.
