What/Who serves as your greatest inspiration in writing?
Gustav Mahler.
I'm a novice writer, but I'm a pretty accomplished musician. I'm a cellist, and love the idea of evoking emotion in words and/or music.
Mahler is one of my favorite composers, because when I listen to what he says in his symphonies, I can feel his presence all around me. I have all 9 of his symphonies in my car, where I put them on full-blast driving everywhere. And his music takes whatever emotions/thoughts I had when I sat in the driver seat and throws them out the window, replacing them with his anger, his happiness, his sorrow, his pain, his love.
I want to do that with the words I write, with the music I play, with everything that I do. Because that, to me, is the most powerful thing a mere human can do.
