Which Way?
"And that ends my speech on 'Gone With the Wind or Casablanca, Whodunit Better?' I'll now take questions on either story; the literary aspects or the lessons learned from them...Yes, you down front."
"Ms. High, both of those stories show the bad consequences of leaping before one looks. So, what do you think? Should life be planned to a tee or lived spur of the moment?"
"Hmmm...Should life be planned to a tee or lived spur of the moment? That is the question. And a fine question it is, too. Let's see...
Sadly, I have no real answers. My first thought was "planned to a tee", cuz 'Tee', duh! *lol* But no, no, spontaneitee *giggle* is good, too, cuz who really wants to be tied down to previously-made plans all the time?
Being the Libra that I am, I think Life should really be a good balance of both. Perhaps plan the big and "IM-POR-TANT" things like house-buying, children-having, and popcorn-buying (Wha-at? There are SOOO many to choose from!), whereas other things can just be done in the moment. Things like going on a long drive, having sex, and making popcorn...or all of the above for a REALLY good time. *waits for the laughter*
I'll take an example from Gone, since that's obviously my favorite of the two flicks. Scarlett kept marrying the wrong men in the spur of the moment. And she, along with her husbands...well, except for poor Charles Hamilton, but I digress...regretted it! But, she gave a lot of thought to what she would do with the mills and so they flourished... Now, on the other side of the coin, even though it caused quite the ruckus, I think that her spontaneously dancing with Rhett at the bazaar was a great thing to do. All things considered, she enjoyed herself and it left no lasting negative consequences.
Now, I'm certainly not condoning that we base all of our decisions on Scarlett or Rhett or even Ilsa or Rick and their actions, but we can learn a thing or two from them, just the same.
Thank you for that question, Ma'am...Next!"
