Life: Story In A Story
“Take that, you f*cking useless! Did you know what you just do to us?! How if we get a consequences for just a simple mistake? You should think twice before you do this!” A blond-pigtail-haired girl yelled at a girl who has beaten up. Her three other friends smiled with arrogance.
“Better remember this or you gonna be in hospital for a semester,” She threatened with anger shown from her face. “let’s go, we don’t have much time left for recess.”
They went out from that place—a dark place, a dead end. That girl, a black-ponytail-haired girl wiped her tears and blood which came out from her nose and mouth. A time after or so, she went out from that place too. I, the one who was watching four of them from up here, smiled.
After she disappeared from my vision, I jumped buildings to other buildings. Ran fast as I could so I can arrived at class with no one notice if I moved from my seat.
“I will treat you sandwiches today so stay there, don’t move an inch!”
Her voice said like that echoed in my brain—really make my day. But due to what happened today, I wasn’t surprised anymore if she didn’t buy me like what she said.
The third floor, beside window was my seat. I jumped from the tree, got into the class and sat calmly like there was nothing happened. I took out my doodle book, with no reason I drew a stick girl with bright red marker, who is being beaten by four people with grey marker. There are so many drawings like that in this book, but no one understand with them.
This drawing told what happened today.
While I was giving the place details, she—the one who was beaten up—came with a smile from her little mouth, then looked down to the floor after she arrived beside me.
“Sorry, I couldn’t buy you sandwiches, my money was taken by the gangsters. I will buy them next time!”
This calm-like girl—Jasmine Evergreen Willson—just lied to me. Well, she didn’t know yet but it’s a bad attitude. But left aside, if I tell her that, she would be quieter than now and I wouldn’t allow that happen.
Jasmine took the seat in front of me, lift up her bag then put it on the table. Maybe she was going write a story. She often do that, since the new semester started, I wan’t really pay attention to her because I wasn’t a good friend to her.
Was not.
We were in the same class since 4th grade in elementary school, and she’s a bright, cheerful and talkactive kid, but since this kid—the one who bullied her before—showed up, all of the attention moved to her—Anastasia Dara Highstone.
She likes to bully others who has popularities more than her. Like Jasmine, she’s the smartest girl in the school, but there is no ivory that is not cracked. Jasmine sucks at P.E. and she’s poor.
By any chance Anastasia eavesdropped me and Jasmine when we were talking about her sick mother and her family couldn’t pay the bill for cure her mother. On the next day there was an announcement titled; A DIRTY-BLOODED GIRL—JASMINE WILLSON.
Because of that, she’s hated by her friends. No teacher could help her because they afraid of Anatasia’s father, the landman of the Hightstone School—where I, Jasmine and the others go to school until now.
I couldn’t help her at that time. She was struggling so hard to get back her position. Well, today wasn’t so bad like before but still she couldn’t reach the top. Until now.
I won’t tell about the school so we’re back to the story.
“How’s the climax? Do you get anything in your head?” I asked. Jasmine sighed.
“Probably, but I’m still not satisfied about it! Can you choose the options here?” Jasmine span her body, gave me her notes. There were about five or seven options for the climax for Jasmine’s short story.
I shifted the book in front of me. “Well, how about making the MC die? Then at the end they meet again in the real life.” I said. She nodded, understand.
“Too cliché, I think. How about from the options?” she asked as she lifted the notes in front my face. I looked at her—pretend to be angry, she showed her bright smile. I snatched that notes from her hand and read it.
“Number 3 and number 6 could work.” I gave her notes back. She held her chin, thinking while looking at her notes.
“Well, thanks for the suggestion. Hope I could finish it soon so I send it to the publisher. There are more than 200 pages in my PC, so I’m not going to give up anymore!”said Jasmine energetically. I showed my thumb with a half smile, a red hue might also showed from my cheeks.
---
That half smiled could be the last smile I’ve ever showed to her.
The next day, she disappeared with no trace. No message to my number, nobody knew about it. When I checked to her house, They were preparing to move. There was a big container, ready to bring things to her new house.
I know, she moved to the neighbor country, where she could start all over again with no distraction. She will be loved, she will have many friends and I know it wouldn’t come true.
Her plane lost in the storm. Snowing hard in the mountains, that massive iron bird crashed. After two weeks or so, the victim who were died in the accident reached a hundred—including Jasmine and her family, except her father.
A small gravestone, with names engraved on the stone: R.I.P Jasmine Evergreen Willson Born: April 25th 1991 Die: January 14th 2005
I wipe the tears pooled in my eyelids. I always remember many things when I visit her. Bad times, great times, everything can pop up when I’m here.
“Young Master, we should go back to the mansion soon. You have an interview for your new book, remember?”said one of my guard. I nod slowly.
After that accident, her father gave me her laptop and offered me to finish her first book. I looked at the story, a girl who search for a true love. Love can be everything, a crush, a family’s bond, friendship. The climax was already written there, but the ending still empty.
It could be romance, or drama, maybe comedy and slice of life, I don’t know.
I go out from the cemetery accompanied by my guards, the ending is really touching for me. I hope we could met in the after life, my love.
