Dancing is in my Soul (Part 3)
“The two that are next in line is Prince Mark and Princess Normamoon.” Father said.
Mark and I exchanged looks of surprise.
“Father, how can you? We aren’t ready yet.” Mark said as he lost his smile.
“You two are ready to take on this duty.” Father said with a smile.
I rolled my eyes and stood up. I left the throne area and ran out of the ball room. Mark followed me with a scowl toward father. Mark knew there was something up.
“Moony, are you alright?” Mark asked as we reached my bedroom door.
“I... I am fine. Please leave me be.” I said as I stayed facing my door.
“No Moony. I am not leaving you. You are my sister and I won’t abandon you for some silly crown.” Mark said as he put his hand on my shoulder.
I turned around and yelled, “Go away!!”
When I yelled, the magic shot out and hit Mark. The magic threw him back into his bedroom door. He screamed as it threw him and the door broke upon impact. I gasped and ran to him. He sat up and rubbed his hand against forehead. He looked at me and I saw that he had blood running down his face. I gasped and started crying.
“Don’t... don’t cry, Moony. I am okay. Really, I am fine.” Mark said as he stood up.
I turned away and ran down the stairs. Mark watched me run out the front doors and through the gates. I ran into the town. No one noticed me running through the town toward the edge of it. I stopped at the edge and looked back to see Mark running after me. I ran and ran until I could run no more through the woods. I had stopped at an Old Oak tree and sat down. I sobbed until I heard Mark and some guards yelling for me.
I heard him yell, “Moony!! Where are you? I forgive you!! Father is worried about you!!” before he left from beside the Oak tree I was behind. He left for the town.
I took a deep breath and stood up. I moved out from behind the tree and opened my mouth. No sound came out. I sat back down and started crying again. I slept there forteh night until the sun started to rise.
I stood up and stretched. I looked around and saw a bright light headed towards me. It got closer and I saw figure that looked like Mark holding the light. I smiled and ran toward him to give him a hug. I hugged him as he stood there confused.
“Umm, ma’am? Why are you hugging me?” He asked, still confused.
I looked up and saw it wasn’t Mark. I let go and and said, “I am so sorry, sir. I thought you were Mark.”
“Are you royalty?” He asked as he looked at my dress.
“Oh... Yes, sir. I am Princess Normamoon. I ran here because I hurt my brother, Prince Mark.” I said as I curtseyed.
“Oh, I am so sorry. Forgive me, your highness.” He said as he bowed down to me.
“It is alright, dear sir. What is your name?” I asked him with a smile.
He stood up and said, “Inuyasha, is the name, Princess.”
“I am really lost. Can you help me find my way back to my town and to my home?” I asked.
He nodded and took me by my arm. We walked to the edge of the woods where it met the edge of the town. He stopped, took a deep breath and put his hood up. Everyone watched us walk from the edge of the town to the center before we were stopped by the town’s Blacksmith.
“Sir, please move so I can get her home without any harry.” Inuyasha said as he kept his head down.
“Hehehehehe. I ain’t moving until you explain why you have the princess! The blacksmith snarled as he grabbed his spear.
Inuyasha sighed and let go of my arm. He grabbed his Katana, still sheathed, and dropped it onto the ground. He knelt down and put his hands behind his head. The blacksmith threw his spear, almost hitting Inuyasga’s head. It stuck in the ground in front of him.
“Get up and fight, you coward!“The blacksmith growled.
“Sir, I am sorry that I will not fight you. I am also not willing to hurt myself. I am only trying to help this young lady back home.” Inuyasha said as he kept his head down.
Inuyasha stood up, grabbed his Katana and put it upon his side. He grabbed my arm and we walked passed the stunned blacksmith. We walked up to the gates of the palace of King Mortasun, my father, and they opened the gates. All of the staff from withtin the palace started whispering and watched us walk to the magnificent doors. He stopped and knocked on the doors. He cleared his throat and pulled his hood farther upon his head. The doors opened and we saw my father.
“Normamoon? Oh, how happy I am to see you again. Where did you run off to? Who is this man?” Father asked, relieved to see me.
“I am Midnight, your majesty. I found her in the woods.” Inuyasha halfway lied.
"Thank you Midnight.Come clean up and have breakfast with us." Father said as he smiled.
"I mustn't take thy offer. I shall only cause you guys trouble. I must re-..." Inuyasha gasped midsentence as Mark stabbed him in the shoulder and pulled it back out.
Blood dripped from the dagger and onto the ground. Inuyasha dropped down to the ground upon his knees, while holding onto his left shoulder. Mark grabbed Inuyasha's hood and pulled it back, showing his black ears.
"Father, he has lied to you. His name isn't Midnight, it is Inuyasha!" Mark snapped as he pushed Inuyasha's head down.
"Prince Mark... is this how y... your supposed to... ugh... to treat your... ugh... sister's savior?" Inuyasha asked calmly.
"Brother? Please let him go. I am home, now. Leave him alone!!" I yelled as I pushed Mark off of Inuyasha.
"Father, this is the biggest delinquent in the history of this kingdom. He is the one that has been wanted so recently. Why are you here, Inuyasha?" Mark asked as he faced me and looked at Inuyasha.
"He helped me get home. Leave him be, Mark." I said as I stood in front of Inuyasha.
I stepped out of the way for Inuyasha to look at Mark and I.
" 'Tis alright, m'lady. I... I challenge your brother to a... a duel. Him with weaponry and me with nothing. That way... That way it is fair. Does he accept the challenge I have set out?" Inuyasha said as he stood up and let go of his shoulder while looking at Mark.
Mark was surprised. Inuyasha smiled and looked at me. I didn't know what to do other than look at both of them scared.
"On what conditions for winning and losing?" Mark asked.
"If I win, I stay free and I get to marry your beloved sister. If I lose, you can lock me away and you can do nothing about my family, living free." Inuyasha said with a smile.
"You shall not marry my sister!!" Mark yelled as he ran and went to stab Inuyasha.
Inuyasha dodged and grabbed Mark's dagger with a smile.
"Now, now. No need to be so hasty toward your challenger. Please, calm down and dwell on it. You have 3 days to send me your answer. Send a messenger with your answer. Remember the conditions for it. I shall take my leave and farewell, Princess Normamoon." Inuyasha said as he put Mark onto the ground, while blood dripped from his wound.
Inuyasha stood up, grabbed the dagger and then grabbed his shoulder. He chuckled and walked away. We watched as the townspeople ran Inuyasha out of town. I helped my brother up and wondered if he will accept the proposition.
