My Heart Was a Poem
My heart was a poem,
That no one could read.
I kept it hidden away.
The words were too fragile,
The rhymes too untested,
Like it was freshly molded clay.
Then you came along,
With your eyes all a-smile,
And I let you take a peek.
And to my surprise,
You read every line,
And gently touched my cheek.
You smoothed all the bumps,
And filled in the cracks,
You helped my heart along.
You set me aflame,
And there in the fire,
I was once again made strong.
My heart is a poem,
That's written for you,
The words are soft and clever.
You gave me the notes,
That perfectly fit,
And now we'll sing forever.
