Mask
We intend to wear a mask to hide who we really are,
We wear different masks for many reasons,
For many occasions and for each person we talk to,
We keep deep inside the pain we feel,
We bury it deep inside our hearts,
Pretending to be fine in front of some,
But vulnerable in front of those we feel safe with,
Our eyes cannot hide what we try to keep,
We may shy away from those who can read us,
But we cannot avoid it forever…
We hide away the pain that haunts us,
The pain that wants to makes us surrender,
But we do not surrender to it,
We crawl back and fight again,
Even if it means standing over again and again,
Even if it break our bones,
Or hurt our muscles and our body,
We still go on and being resilient,
But in the process, we wear mask,
Mask to keep others from seeing,
The real us, hidden deep inside…
