The Earth, The Winds, and I
As I sat on the edge of the cliff watching the sun set,
I noticed the dark clouds rolling in and thought
'my time has come.'
Tentatively sliding my shoes off of my feet
I watched as gravity stole my flats and had them sink
into the deep, dark sea below.
Putting the weight of my full body
onto my bare feet for the final time,
I peek my head over the edge.
The water churns and splashes,
playing with me.
I smile and wave back at the welcoming waves
wanting me to explore their murky depths
The wind picks up once more,
blowing my hair everywhere.
In my face, in my mouth,
whipping my red cheeks with no remorse.
'Even the wind wants me gone.'
No I don't, it whispered to me.
The wind quieted, no longer whipping my face.
Stay here on the edge where it's safe.
I want to feel your tendril locks
and play with you for a bit longer
As do I squeaked the muddy earth under my feet.
I want to hold the weight you have
and support your every move.
To feel your presence and
feel the bounce in your steps.
"I thought you had forgotten me.
I thought that I was alone"
No, we are with you wherever you go.
And we will always remind you
of your worth
and who you
truly
are
I realized that I had been moved away from that rocky ridge
The weight I didn't realize I had been holding
Instantly released
and I found myself on the ground
sobbing.
Thanking the earth for it's support
and thanking the wind
for wiping my tears away
