The Flower Vase
I walked up to the door of this abandoned mansion. I opened the door and it creaked. The floor creaked under our feet as we walked across the floor boards. When I say we, I mean my brother Pete and I. We walked through the mansion as my brother and I noticed one room was lit up. We walked in and saw a flower vase. I thought something was odd when I noticed a glass flower vase was sitting in a room lit up like a candle.
“Brother. Grab the Vase and let’s get out of here. That is the vase Mama wanted, correct?” I said as the vase quit glowing.
“Yeah, but why did we come here for it instead of a stand in town, Oceana?” He asked as he grabbed the vase.
"This is where mother said the Vase she wanted was at." I said as he walked in front of me and I followed him out to the front door.
"No one may leave until the vase has been returned!!" A voice said as we heard stairs creaking.
"Why did you yell that?" I yelled back as we noticed an elderly man at the bed of the stairs.
"That is my Glass Flower Vase. It is my Wife's ashes. Please give it back so I won't have to kill you." He said as he stepped closer to us.
"Give it back, sister." Pete said as he went to give it to me.
"Give it back, young man!" The man yelled as he stabbed Pete in the gut with his cane.
He grabbed the Vase and the door opened. I didn't think twice. I ran out the door and back toward home. When I looked back the mansion crumbled into a heap of debris.
