escape
there's a portal leads to everywhere;
close your eyes and take a few steps to the edge
of your universe,
over the moss and lichen, along the granite stones and boulders
don't look over your shoulder;
don't look back;
you'll suffer a heart attack
the green twigs of shrubs contain the whispers of your past; leave it there
no return, gain the ground while it's there for the taking, running wild in the wild
cut the cord, rip the cloth, tear yourself a new one
up the scree through the glacier path ravine that becomes the mother canyon of your dreams
follow up the purple slope, the golden cliffside calls its bluff up the steep sheer sides
into the mountain pass escape, through the void of blue astronomy's hues,
sky's thin air,
take the leap;
let it go;
gravity will catch you and take you to the bottom, then the rise above
soar with wings, the free air thin, breathe from the mountain height
in the stillness, feel your singleness and your spirit freed
build a fire, make a spire with fiery tongues of flame up high
send the sparks in the night, elevation three miles high into the pitch of night
black blue sky of sparkling, shining white hot stars
watch the smoke rise in the dark, in the cold reach up towards heavens high
now escape into your self;
ascend to God's own throne
sing his song and his praise;
talk with Him;
share your love and concerns
drift off to sleep,
your soul and heart to keep on this mountain high
