What is “Best Friend”?

I find the term "best friend"

To be problematic

As what is "best" always changes over time

However, there is nothing

My heart craves more

Than a muse

The person who displays such vivacious life

Sings into the wind when people are watching

Unabashedly trying for things they're "unqualified" for

Asks for the things they need without hesitancy

I guess, I could say

My "best friend" is my role model.

The person who pushes me

To be more than what I limit myself into

The person who pulls me out of boxes

Because I have stuffed myself into them

The person who doesn't let me wash dishes

Because they want me to be their guest

The person who makes me decide things when I don't want to

Because they know I'm afraid of an undetermined aftermath

The person who continually teaches me that other people's perspectives don't matter

Because I don't have to live with them in my head 24/7

My Best Friend may change

But my person is always with me

Teaching me to make myself my own best friend
