Strong vs Emotional
Be a Man.
The sentence that is said so many times it has become a catch phrase.
Be a Man
What do we define be a man as? what does society define be a man as? What do we as woman in relationships define as what it means to 'be a Man!'
We have connected the phrase to characterizing what a man should be. Mainly as;
Protectors
Providers
Strong
Leaders
Pillars
A shoulder to cry on and a ear to listen to our bad days.
All along forgetting that even though man are seen as these strong, emotionless being that should be made of steel, that can not break, nor shatter. No liquid should fill their eyes, and never roll down their cheeks.
We have grown so accustom to these terms that hang like invisible strands with labels on them. We have said this to men so many time that had started believing it. We don't see the human side to them and so often it is sad that they don't either, having forgotten what it feels like to open up, to cry, to just be human.
As woman, we need to understand sometimes, a loving kiss can calm the storm within that man, a hug can comfort them without you realizing they need it, a simple "How was your day?" and being the ear to listen could lift a heavy weight from his shoulders, showing affection when you notice he is at breaking point and taking it as an opportunity to remind him of the strong human he is and that even steel can be melted under the highest heat. A simple "I am proud of you, and can see you trying" might be the little push he needs to keep going or push forward.
So, try to remember that even with this society tags, before those labels, a Man is Human too, and is entitled to every emotion, every way of affection just like you.
