Chapter 8: The Cheater
Two months have passed and I still haven't talked to Jason about what Chandler had told me. I guess you can say I'm kind of stalling the mission because, well, I don't want to go through with it. As time went by, me and Chandler grew closer and basically became the best of friends. I didn't try to hit on him or anything like that (sadly) because I chose to respect his and Stacy's relationship, even though I don't like that bitch. Chandler knows that too.
It's not like she even tries to hide that fact that she despises me for being around her boyfriend twenty-four seven. She even told Chandler that she despises me. What a nice girlfriend right? Yea sure.
Working for Chandler is great and very easy, and I wish I could work there longer. But I know I can't. I have been avoiding Jason's calls and even his dad's calls for the past two months, even though I'm supposed to update them like every two weeks.
What am I going to say to them though? Oh hi, I haven't done anything but drool over my boss/target/mission for the past two months. Yea that statement will get me killed in a hearbeat.
I've kept in touch with Cece, but not as much as I want because I know she will suspect something is going on, or in my case that nothing is going on. Literally. She may be my friend, but her loyalty lies with The Troublemakers.
She will definitely tell Jason Sr. that she is suspicious and think that I may be hiding something, which is why I was so nervous when I got a text from Jason Sr. telling me to go to his place as soon as I was off of work.
He wanted to discuss the mission.
Great.
After work, I made my way over to Jason's house. While I was driving, I was trying to prepare myself for whatever questions they were going to throw my way.
I pulled into the driveway and got out of the car. I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath, preparing myself for the worst. I went up to the door and knocked, wiping my sweaty palms on my pants.
The door opened and Jason appeared with a huge grin on his face. He opened his arms and cocked his head, wiggling his eyebrows.
I shook my head and laughed, giving him the hug he wanted since it has been a while since I had seen him.
"Terri! You've been avoiding me!" Jason said, squeezing me hard.
"Ow Jason, I can't breathe and I have not been avoiding you, I've just been caught up with my mission." I answered, pushing him off of me. I walked into the house and he made a noise.
I turned around and he was making a face.
"What? Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked him, backing up slightly when he started walking towards me.
"Tsk tsk tsk. Terriiii, you are in big trouble missy. We thought you were perfect for this mission. Were we wrong?" He said raising his eyebrows. Oh great.
"I don't have to answer that. Now if you will excuse me, I have a meeting with your father." I turned on my heel and made my way to his father's office.
"Good luck babe! You're gonna need it." Jason yelled after me, chuckling to himself.
Well that didn't help my nerves at all. I opened the office door and stepped into the office. There sat Jason Sr. on the phone. He looked up and saw me and motioned for me to sit down. His face was not happy. At. All.
I gulped and sat down in the chair across from him.
"Mhmm, yea okay. I'm taking care of it now." I heard Jason Sr. say into the phone. Taking care of it? What?
He hung up the phone and faced my way, clasping his hands together as he frowned at me.
"Terri," he began. "Do you know why you are here?" he asked me. My face scrunched up in confusion.
"Uhh, cause you want to talk about my mission?" I said slowly, even more confused when he started shaking his head and chuckled, but not in a good way. He leaned back into his chair looking at his hands. Then he looked back up at me.
"Wrong. You are here because I am deciding whether or not you are the right one for this job."
I gripped the oak desk in front of me. WHAT?
"What do you mean whether I'm good enough for this job? Of course I'm good enough for this job that's why you chose me!" I answered, starting to get mad. I was not prepared for that at all. I NEED to be good enough for this job or else, I will be terminated. Forever.
"I thought that you were the best for the job, until now. If you were the best Terri, then please tell me this. Why has two months passed by and the target isn't dead yet?" he asked, staring me down.
My palms started getting sweaty. Oh great.
"Umm, there's a lot of security around him all the time and uhh, I can't seduce him properly. He pulls back every time. There's no way to get him completely alone." I told him, feigning innocence. That was a total lie. Not that he knows that.
"And why, please tell me, can't you get him alone?"
I sighed.
"Because, he has a girlfriend. And he loves her. A lot." I said, biting my lip nervously because I know that excuse won't fly with him.
He looked at me at started laughing.
"Ha! A girlfriend is seriously stopping you from completing your mission? Why didn't you say anything sooner? I can get her out of the equation real quick." I opened my mouth to respond, but he beat me to it. "No Terri, I am not going to have her killed. I have better plan in mind. But don't you worry, now you can complete your mission."
I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding and smiled.
"Thank you so much Mr. Long, I appreciate it." He nodded and his lips spread into a thin line, he face getting serious again.
"You're welcome. Now remember, you have less than a month left to complete this mission. If you don't complete it in that time period, I won't hesitate to have you terminated." He raised his eyebrows as if to intimidate me.
I just nodded, not trusting my voice to say anything.
"Good, good. Any questions?" He asked. I sucked in a breath and asked the question that was on my mind for the past two months.
"Why did you have Chandler's mother killed?" I held my breath, waiting for an answer. He froze, slowly looking at me with hard eyes.
"Don't worry about that. That was a long time ago. Focus on your mission now. You were trained just for this mission. Do not fail me. You are dismissed." He turned his attention back to his work on his desk.
I got up and basically ran out of the house, his thoughts running through my head. You were trained just for this mission. The truth that I was looking for the entire time. I was just a pawn. A pawn.
I made it home and ran up the stairs, tears spilling down my face. I dropped on my bed, burying my face in my pillow as sobs escape my lips. She was innocent, I just know it. My whole life has been a lie. Killing and fighting people just because someone told me to. Not asking a question. Now I know.
I cannot complete this mission. I will stall the rest of the month, and figure out a plan when the time comes.
I WILL NOT complete this mission.

The next day, I started plotting. The first step in my plan is to get rid of all the non factors in his life, aka his bitchy girlfriend. She was first priority. So yes, back to flirting and more with the lovely Chandler.
I entered the building where I worked and headed to the elevator. Once I reached the right floor, I made my way to Chandler's office, saying a quick hello to his receptionist sitting in front the hallway behind a large desk.
I opened the door, determined and found Chandler sitting behind his glossy desk, head buried in paper work. I was about to call out his name, when someone interrupted me.
"Channy! It's time for lunch!" Stacy said, very loudly, walking up next to me and giving me a nasty look. She had on a pale white shirt over washed out jeans and black boots.
Chandler looked and was looked startled seeing the both of us at the same time.
"Um, no Channy it's not lunch time. Remember I scheduled a meeting for you with your dad? Yea it's about to start in like five minutes." I stated, giving Stacy a nasty look back.
He looked at his watch and his eyes widened.
"Oh crap! I'm so sorry Stace, maybe another time?" He rushed up and pecked her on the lips and hurried out the door, leaving me and Stacy alone in his office.
She faced me and crossed her arms across her chest, staring me down.
"How come he always picks you over me? Are you fucking him? Cause I swear to god-"
"You'll do what? Hit me? Ha, I doubt it. But you can try me if you want, go ahead." I taunted her, making her face turn red with fury.
"So he's cheating on me? Okay. Okay." she said nodding to herself. Wait huh?
"Um wait I didn't-" She held up her hand to stop me.
"It's okay, I knew all along. I'm not stupid. He's gonna pay for that though." With that, she left his office.
I shook my head and walked out behind of her, turning the corner to the conference room.
I opened the door and walked in on Chandler and his father talking. They stopped and looked up when I walked in and Grant smiled at me.
"Ah, how's my favorite assistant?" Grant got up and gave me a big hug. I giggled and hugged him back.
" I'm great Grant, just trying to deal with Chandler's crazy girlfriend." I said, rolling my eyes at Chandler. He shook his head and sighed, running his fingers through his hair.
"What did she do now?" he asked, looking stressed out. I pulled out a chair and sat down next to him. I clasped my hands together.
"Welllll, when you left, she accused me of sleeping with you blah blah and said that you are gonna pay for cheating on her blah blah, same sob story every time." I answered, looking at Grant when I finished. He grunted and rolled his eyes.
"I don't fancy the young lady at all so I would care less if you were cheating. You deserve better than that money hungry bi-, um lady. You deserve someone like Terri." He finished off, winking at me. He knows that I'm always trying to flirt with Chandler. I mean, who wouldn't.
Chandler sighed and shook his head at the both of us.
"She's not money hungry dad and nothing you guys say will change my mind about her. I love her and she loves me." I scoffed.
"What?" Chandler turned to me. "You don't believe that?" he asked, angrily getting up.
I got up in his face.
"No, I don't believe it. She's going to cheat on you. Mark my words." I shot back.
"Okay okay, lets all be calm now and continue this meeting." Grant said, trying to bring the peace back.
I sat back down and scooted my chair away from Chandler.
"Whatever. Just don't come crying back to me when you find out." I mumbled to myself, and crossed my arms across my chest.

My long work day was done and I couldn't wait to go home. On the way though, I got a phone call from Jason Sr.
"Hello?"
"Hello Terri, how are you?" he asked me.
"Uhh, I'm good?" I answered slowly, skeptical about why he was calling me so late.
"Great! I would like for you to come over right now, I have some business to discuss with you and Jason." he told me.
"Um, okay. I'll be there in five." I did a complete u-turn and made it to his house in five minutes.
I knocked on the door and twisted the door knob, letting myself in. I went straight to Jason Sr. office to see what he wanted to talk about.
He looked up from his work when I barged in and smiled.
"Ah, you're here. We can get this meeting started now." He looked around for Jason.
"Oh great, I forgot Jason was upstairs. Could you get him for me please? You know where his room is, don't bother knocking either. Just go right in." he said, still smiling oddly. I looked at him suspiciously, but did what he said.
I went up the stairs and went to Jason's door. I stood in front of it and thought about what his dad said. Don't bother knocking. Shrugging, I was about to turn the door knob when I heard some grunting noises. I leaned closer to the door and pressed my ear against it.
"You like that huh? Better than that preppy boyfriend of yours." I heard Jason say.
"Oh my god, yessss, right there!" I heard a female moan. I almost fell backwards. I recognized that voice. I need to get proof. I pulled out my phone and clicked on the camera app, going to video.
I twisted the doorknob slowly and what I saw confirmed my suspicions. There on that bed, Jason was plowing into Stacy, making that bed bang against the wall.
"Ahhh harder please oh my- ahh!" Stacy yelled out, as Jason thrusted in her. My mouth was open the whole time as I recorded (no, I did not like it I just needed proof). I slipped a little and made a small noise, catching myself before I fell. I looked up and saw Jason looking at me and he smiled, and winked at me as he thrusted even harder in Stacy.
I ran down the stairs right past Jason Sr. and straight to my car. I tried to get rid of the scene that I had witnessed in my head as I drove home.
I have better plan in mind. Jason Sr's words crossed my mind. Oh. My. God. That was his plan? That's how he was going to get rid of Stacy? By making her cheat? Wow, I thought as I pulled into my driveway and made it inside.
How am I going to tell Chandler? He's going to be devastated. Maybe I shouldn't tell him. No, I have to.
I was so conflicted and so many thoughts passed through my head as I got undressed and got ready for bed.
I decided I'm going to tell him. That's what a real friend would do.
