Fall again...
I have tried to cope
with the hole you left
on that hard day in may
five years ago
Three weeks till your birthday
in Colorado on vacation
wondering what to get you
the next day we got the call
A 4am call that put
a piece of all of us
to sleep, for it would
rise no more
It would rise no more like
the sound of your laugh
or your voice from the
lessons yet to learn
We held your wake in
the church all of the baptismals
were, so I was told
by relatives, some I knew
But there were some you
didn't expect like some of the
kids who rode your bus
and remembered you still
You will not know some of
these things but I tell you when
I see you, it has been so long
because it pains me to visit
You'd never know, but
I let my spouse sleep
on that ride, five years ago
just so I could let some
of the tears fall for you
Now five years later,
I still let her sleep
when we go to see you
so I can let them
fall again...
Let them fall again
