Someone to save.
Once upon a field of snow
You'd whisper truths to me
That I'd need not know
Your hands interlaced
With a past lovers embrace
Fingertips as cold as ice
So I'll lay you down to rest
Baring my hand upon your chest
In an attempt to soothe your tired heart
Whilst the world around us falls apart
Amongst the wilting flowers we breathe
As the dawn chorus echoes freely
The birds singing their song
I'll look to you fear free
And we'll both sing along.
Mother.
Gold drips from tulips
Blooming proudly in the dark
Settling in to stay
Like mother always would
On a rainy day
Scents of hope ride
On the thin gloomy air
Only to crash and burn
Upon entering the room
in which our hearts reside
"You deserve better"
Mother would always say
As if it was what I were after
When all I ever wanted
was for her to stay
For when the sunlight reflected
homes true colours
With bags packed
She went away
Searching for the same sunlight
On leftover cloudy days
Voided beacon
A crack on the head
A fatal impact to my breath
Expressions of the void
To which I dare not tread
However within the void
There is a thunder strike -
A memory that never seems to fade
In the midst of growing mist
Coating the childhood fields I know
There is a glimmering beacon -
that forever seems to grow
Of the time Susan, my dear
You wrote me that letter
Of how you wished you were here
Bearing promises that I'd get better
Not once did I think you'd be one to leave
I always felt so safe
From the gentle ways in which you held me
A beacon of hope turned sour
Shrouded by cobwebs
Festering sentiment filled dust
Getting caught up in all of my longing and dead lust
So I pick up my pen
And to you I write my letter
"I promise you Susan,
Yesterday, the void was better."
Stay.
If we are never meant to be
I'll hope you don't remember me
Sentiment blocking broken drains
Whenever the torn clouds rain
So I'll leave you with a final kiss
But please don't remember this
For when the rain does come
To wash your touch away
I'll hope and pray
That perhaps one day
You'll find it in your weary heart to stay
