Heaven
Seven days to live, I hold the keys
having worked out my salvation already
Eating fried eggs, toast and jam
having tea and coffee with family and friends
cuddling with my wife, praying before saying goodnight
Dancing around a campfire, watching my kids make s’mores
telling bad Dad jokes, just to hear them laugh once more.
Living the life of a king, enjoying the important things
wondering, while waiting, what life in Heaven brings.
Antivirus for the Body
The art of the spin paints a morbid picture within, Innocent, small and white it begins. The deception breeds, conception feeds, then becomes sin.
Spawn of the sin spirals out of control, it grows, bill of goods sold, other lies take hold. Now An alter-ego, it wants full control.
A hidden personality, attaching to its host, now your a shell for a ghost.
Threat to a soul, a slow stroll to a dark hole. Sly and clever with deceit it creeps.
Claws gripping tight to your heart, becoming an expert in the art, using the flesh to manipulate.
Painting pictures of impeding fate, giving visions of everything’s great.
Now your on strings, a puppet, not in control of things,
in a sunken place, trying frantically to escape.
There is only one Holy Spirit, discern what it is.
There is a million ways to lie, but only one way to live.
Be free
Emotionally Inebriated
Cheyenne woke to the sun beaming through her eye lids. Instinctively she put her hand up before opening them. The sound of waves coming in and the smell of salt air told her that she was on a beach. The breeze lapped over her face like jeweled lotion. She opened her eyes to realize that a large dog was standing over her. Fur blowing in the ocean wind, color of all the softest fawns. Its tongue hanging out, panting, only to go back in occasionally, revealing a slight smile. She reached up to touch her cheek to realize that the breeze was actually the canine licking her face. Sensing that the dog was not threatening her vision began to focus on her surroundings. There was nothing but beach everywhere, to the right was nothing but water. Anxiety, worry and fear started to build up realizing that she did not know where she was. Her heart raced, as frantic breathing began to take over all faculties.
Her Focus turned to the large dog and everything started to subside, she felt the comfort that she needed at that moment. Intuitively, the dog came over and sat beside her. Tears started flowing as she grabbed the big dog’s mane, pulling it tight. The dog nuzzled its face on the back of her neck, shielding it from the sun. A healing balm seemed to radiate through her soul. Where there was once pain, joy overflowed. Every hole was filled with something better, something greater. Beyond the dog was destruction so she focused strongly on the pacifying pooch.
“How did I get here?” she asked.
She began to remember looking up at the noose hanging from the ceiling. The room smelled like incense and cannabis. Not wanting to think about the next body that she would need to service in order to survive. Hope lost, she only wanted to kill the pain, not herself. Shipped from foster parents, to foster parents there was no foundation. There was no long term love. Love was mixed with molestation. Causing confusion and chaos to will and emotions. Love was tied to illicit lust, perverting and twisting her soul.
“You called me!”, a voice rang out.
“Not only did you call me, you asked for forgiveness”
Cheyenne squinted, looking away from the dog. The sun and sand burned as one, a figure began to emerge.
The voice was familiar and soothing.
It sounded like her mother, father, Nana, Papa, favorite cousin and the coolest Auntie ever.
It strummed a nerve that she never knew was there.
Her tears and sobbing increased as her spirit knew before her mind understood.
The Covenant
Come with me,
I will bless you, keep you from harm
come with me, take my arm.
I will bless your family
keep my word handy,
in it you will see the fullness
of joy within me and love unconditionally.
I will help you peel off the layers
of hurt, setting you free
I will fight your battles,
help you weather your storms
A new faith, a new life
because you are reborn.
When the trials of life come upon
you like a wind, I will show my strenth
through you, till the end.
Flight of the boulder
A bird could feel no freer
the perceived weightlessness,
deceptive
end looms near
tranced into a slumber
leaving the mind to wonder
all of these years, why did I fear?
shackles, fetters, keeping my mind bound
courage now found, blown
why did I not enter the race?
why did I procrastinate?
prophesy delayed, sealing its fate
