It was a pleasure
For the friends I made
For the ones I would have
For the things I learned
For the things I would have
For everything and nothing
For time well spent
For the place that was home
I thank my good fortune
I stepped into Prose
I shall not spill a tear
For I shall leave you with smiles
May you write so brilliantly
That the Universe gasps in awe
May you make friends for a lifetime
And forever more...
The Shadow People
We swallow unspoken words
Like moldy bread,
The secrets eat us from the inside
Until parts of our bodies dislodge and
Blow into the wind.
I'll never tell you that I don't love you.
You'll never tell me that you lost yourself
Somewhere along Highway One,
Your heart hanging from the tree limbs
Overlooking the Pacific.
We used to feel so invincible
That phrases tumbled from our tongues,
Overt and pregnant with promises.
Now we have to look for
Ourselves in the cracks
And crevices of crumbling landmarks.
We used to feel so significant
That our shadows could have
Been painted on postage stamps.
Now we have to press
Our fingers to our faces
Just to be certain We still exist.
Seeking Truth
A lesson forgotten from 1967, The Summer Of Love...
I seek a truth
So hard to find
Blind
Walking paths
All lost to time
As bodies burn
In fire of ire
And madness takes
Our breaths in turn
Street colors clash
One black
One blue
Locked in response
Of what to do
We
Trapped in Worlds
Proscribed by hue
Hate yields to love
Know this is true...
There's power in a flower
If we let peace bloom

Dad In A Box
I found your life tucked away
inside this small dusty box. ...
all alone I began sifting through
as it spoke so softly, I realized ....
you didn't learn to speak,
until after, breath escaped your lungs.
so now I listen to your ghost whisper
to me as I scan still memories,
left to throw away all the mundane. ...
don't worry dad,
I'm not afraid and I no longer cry tears,
that flow without permission ...
instead I hold on to reality that
I never knew, and hardly ever will ...
yet, life goes on
outside of your small dusty box,
where I continue scanning lost times.
so for now,
I put on a smile
and tell my little boy,
all your things left behind,
were all left
for him ... ....
African Princess.
African princess,
Tell me your interests,
Take a moment with me,
Lets sip some herbal tea,
Lets take a walk verbally,
Let your hand fit in mine certainly
and maybe we can be together eventually.
Here's a little something I jotted down,
Incase I saw you around,
Let me drive you crazy with my words,
We don't need to take off our clothes,
Let me seduce you verbally,
lyrically,
I'm metaphorically speaking,
Trying to reach your inner mind,
I wanna hit the brain spot,
Get you hot,
Leave you salivating,
My black thornless rose.
My only mission is drive you crazy,
Play with your mind,
Flirt with you,
I want to make you mine,
Leave you craving,
And asking for more.
I want you to dance to my words,
Let me touch you,
in places you've never been touched before, verbally,
It's that sexual healing Marvin Gay shit,
I am not blind but sometimes
I Stevie Wonder about you being mine,
I want to pull a Bruno on you and take you to Mars,
Maybe catch a grenade for you,
let me be your Rambo,
Take on a whole army for you
and in 2 Pacs voice
"It's all about you".
Count On Me
The sun may not shine as long as your Heart would like;
Count on me to be your light.
The dark may linger more than your Mind can handle;
Count on me to be a blazing Candle.
The gleaming glow may not burn as Long as your soul may need;
Count on me to help you see.
The vision you have may leave you One day;
Count on me to lead the way.
The path you are on;
You may forget and stray,
Count on me to remind you each day.
Count on me,
I will never be far;
Count on me,
I love you,
for who you are S.M.-
Drug of choice
She'd wake me
In the morning
To remind me I was alive
She'd disappear
Beneath cotton
So many threads
I'd forgotten to count
The softness of her hands
In rhythm between breaths
Keeping time

S educes
D eath
I could've died then
And there
She always made me weak
Too weak to pretend
We were someone else
Too weak to dare to dream
Outside my own reality
An addict to her lips
Her voice
You never understand your drug
Fully
Yet it knows you from the inside out
