A Summer Day
Should I compare you to a summer day?
Although you are lovelier and more composed.
Because the rough winds of May shake the flowering buds
And summer ends far too swiftly.
The sun shines too brightly sometimes, other times it's dimmed, like all other fair things that can't always stay their best, either by chance or by fate.
Your prime will never fade, neither will the eternal summer lose hold of the beauty you own. Not even death can brag he finds you in his shadow, your youth grows not to death but to immortality. As long as this poem lasts and there are those who read, you will remain alive, even if only in memory.
Sonnet Eighteen (and a half)

You're like a fine breeze on a scorching day

Steady, soothing, and so anchoring me

When the winds blow hard in turbulent May

In a flash, our fine summer races by

The sun’s heat is scorching the crimson sky

Or dimmed in shade it fades to opaque gray

Like everything it ends in bitter tones
Whether they end in flight or faded song

Except for you, the one, forever young

Living on when all the mortals have gone

Because in my words you live forever

As long as life will be in earth and sky

In my song forever, eternally

When Angels Walked the Earth
led by the heart
head in loyal tow
the warmth of you
a refuge for the wandering lost
once soul-deep in the mire
a hand of tenderness received
slate wiped, tale retold
changed life, paradigm shifted
I walked with an angel
On the precipice
whereupon
we both took
the never-ending
Dive
when angels walked the earth
one found me.
Because I am human
Before the bible was written,
Before humanity was conceived,
Before forbidden fruit gardens
Tempting Adam and Eve,
Before Renaissance paintings,
Before the birth of man,
There was a place of nature,
A vast luscious land.
It breathed in sapphire skies,
It exhaled emerald grass,
As is the case with all beauty,
In time it would not last.
As we grew with the mountains,
And became wiser to the seas,
Boasting of our compassion,
Yet raping the Earth with ease,
We capitalized on suffering,
And in fear of the unknown
We singlehandedly tore apart
The land we had called home.
Because I am human,
Does not give me the right,
To poison a whole ecosystem,
To take a single life.
Because I am human,
I must accept the blame,
For when there is nothing left,
all we know is that
We all bleed the same.
Moving Song
Travel on, travel on,
away from all
the paths you've gone.
Travel on, on your way,
You can't stay, you can't stay.
Every road you've traveled on,
made you who you are right now.
Every question, every doubt,
Brought you where you are somehow.
Travel on, travel on,
away from all
the paths you've gone.
Travel on, on your way,
You can't stay, you can't stay.
Moving on, straight ahead,
To a place you'll make your own.
In your way, unafraid,
having faith, you'll make your home.
Travel on, travel on,
away from all
the paths you've gone.
Travel on, on your way,
You can't stay, you can't stay.
All the friends, you've met before,
You hold them all within your heart.
Leave your worries and regrets,
And embrace a brand new start.
Travel on, travel on,
away from all
the paths you've gone.
Travel on, on your way,
You can't stay, you can't stay.
