The freckled sky glows with dull energy,

Casting long shadows on the dew dropped ground.

Creatures in hiding during the darkness,

Only the owl mourns the absent sun.

The ink engulfs the crevices of Earth,

Wrapping everything in blankets of stars.

A cacophony of shadows, and all I feel is fear.

The faint outlines cast without light,

Murmuring and mumbling into my deaf ears.

Reaching out through the gloom and obscurity,

The people I love.

But they are too late,

As I drown in my selfish misery.

The mouth, once mine, screams;

Ricocheting around in the prison cell

Of my mind.
