A Dream
Mornings of gray,
My tears at bay,
Sleep so heavy,
My hands so steady,
Yet I live to dream,
For this I beam.
To dream of a new day,
A day without gray.
A day so bright,
A sleep so light.
A day without grief,
A day so brief.
We live to die,
So why even try.
Yet these dreams of night,
That make me take flight.
I strive to dream,
Upon sweet seams.
A dream of magic,
A dream not tragic.
A dream far from life,
A dream far from strife.
And so I sleep to wake,
Only to sleep from heartache.
Valentine’s Day
A day of love,
Filled with doves.
A day of couples,
A day so dull.
For people like me,
Singles with pleas,
Our hearts so pained,
Our face tear-stained.
A day of grief,
Filled with mischief.
A day of the lone,
A day of groans.
For people like me,
People so free,
Our stories untold,
Our hands so cold.
And so I write,
My latest plight,
My lonesome day,
A day for the gay.
Unrequited Love
I love your kind eyes,
That make my heart fly.
I love your sweet cheeks,
That make me so meek.
I love your bright smile,
My heart you beguile,
Yet you don't love me,
Oh how can this be.
Your arm I cling,
My heart that stings.
Your hand so cold,
My love you scold.
Your smile so far,
Much like a star.
Yet my heart starts to stir,
As you look at her.
Her face like a gem,
Her love I condemn.
Her hair so fair,
I can't help but glare.
Her dress so rich,
How I wish we could switch.
Yet his smile so bright,
Perhaps this is alright.
His joy I pray,
Till the end of his days.
May his smile not fade,
Nor get played.
May his future be bliss,
One sealed with a kiss.
Yet although his joy I wish,
My heart swells with anguish.
A love not mine,
I can't help but whine,
If only he could be mine,
And not that swine's.
But his joy I pride,
My love long died,
His new bride at his side,
Though my heart still cried.
White Lily
A Lily so tall,
Our hearts you call,
To roar like thunder,
Our fears set asunder.
Your white petals you bring,
That crown you King,
Dance with dews,
Free of all blues.
Your leaves that shine,
As though divine,
Bathe in white lights,
Hidden from dark nights.
Your lean stem that sways,
As we watch in daze,
Sway with such passion,
With such compassion.
Yet you must take flight,
Into the dark night,
To fight for what’s right,
Much like a Knight.
This you must fight,
While I write:
Spread your wings,
My Lily of Kings.
Lament of Love
A sobbing song of grief.
Oh what sweet mischief,
That lies in the bane of love,
That which never will be enough.
A cry of woe.
Oh what misery you sow,
That lays hidden beneath his facade,
That thickens his blood.
A poem of sorrow.
Oh the pains of tomorrow,
That which will kill,
His blood you spill.
The story of Tristan,
A Love of Sin.
The tale of Isolde,
A Love too bold.
A bitter tragedy.
A union so lovely.
In Life they bled,
In death they wed.
Oh What a Wonderful World to Live In
Oh what a World to live in.
A World where the kind are exploited,
Such a World to be hated.
A World where fools are taken from,
Such a fate truly glum.
A World where the imprisoned thrive,
Wherein others do not survive.
A World where the sane are blind,
They’re minds being much confined.
Oh what a World to live in.
Where the skies are painted gray,
Without further delay.
Where the seas turn brown,
I can’t help but frown.
Where the beasts howl,
From their forests turned foul.
Where the birds sleep,
Alas, this is what we reap.
Oh what a World to live in.
To live in a World of smokes and mirrors,
Compounded with endless horrors.
To live in a World of lies galore,
To change I implore.
To live in a World of tears and sorrow,
That we can still fix next morrow.
To live in a World of fire and ice,
I will warn no more than thrice.
Oh what a wonderful World to live in,
A World only stained in the sin of our kin.
See Me
See me at my brightest,
When my mood is the lightest.
See me at my lowest,
When the days are the slowest.
See me in the morning,
To make my days less boring.
See me at night,
To make my heart take flight.
See me tomorrow,
To stave off sorrow.
See me the day after,
And fill me with laughter.
But promise to stay,
And never betray,
Promise to love,
It’s never enough.
Promise to hold me,
And fill me with glee,
Promise to smile,
And go that extra mile.
So promise to stay,
Till the end of your days.
