Resolution
This year I sit
Thinking about the year.
What do I change,
Or fix, or finish.
What about me is wrong?
An hour later,
The list is frightening.
So, I start another list.
What about me is right,
Or good, or satisfying.
I find myself still thinking.
The ink from my pen
Soaking a bloody blue hole,
The tip still pausing,
Nothing to show by "1."
Finally I give up,
Tear both list apart.
My resolution is mad.
This year,
This is the year I will learn.
I am going to learn to love myself.
It will be slow,
It will be hard,
It may even hurt.
But, by this time,
A year from now,
The goal is clear.
The bloody blue hole,
It will be on the first list.
With little steps,
I will drown the list of bad,
And fill my heart
With an endless list of love.

you said
you were coming home
is it nice
up there
in your paper mâché
rocket ship?
i bet the world
looks so small,
i bet the stars
illume your dreams
and galaxies take
your breath away,
i bet you’re
light years away
sleeping sound
in the moon dust
is it nice
up there?
you said
you were coming home
but now
i’ve realized
your home
isn't here.
"I wish I knew you were real...""I'm as real as you want me to be."
That was the conversation between Tara and the older man in her dream, the one that's been reoccurring three nights out of the week. In it, she met up with a devilishly handsome older man, an encounter which turned into an erotic escapade. She experienced such an intense desire to be with this man that she could no longer function during waking hours. Everywhere she went she swore she saw this man, yet, after a second glance, he was gone. After several visits with her psychologist, Dr. Evans, he told her it was her subconscious's way of satisfying her needs, as she's been without a physical relationship for so long. As for the sightings, he believed she was experiencing mild psychosis due to her fixation and not fully accepting the reality of the situation. One night, she couldn't fall asleep when she heard a knock at her window. Heart pounding, she peaked through the blinds, a mixture of fear, shock, and joy filled her body at the sight of the man she desired. Uncertain if she was awake or not, she wondered if dreams and reality were actually one and the same.
