What you don’t know is...
She has her own sun shining above her head and some flowers only bloom when she passes by.
You don’t know everyone, in every room, can’t help but laugh at her jokes. Because you were too busy to notice.
You also don’t know her heartbeats sound like thunder, and music, and joy altogether.
When she speaks you can catch in her eyes a touch of unique passion nobody else can imagine to embody. What is like to be her, and to have taken books and built yourself around them. What is like to have been born to just wonder, and analyse, and study. And understand.
She gives when no one asks, and she’s always the first to reach out.
What you don’t know is no one ever is going to be deserving of her. Of course not you.
Millennials want decent jobs? Lord, no!
They told me to study.
Hard.
So I studied.
Hard.
They told me, ‘love what you do and the rest will come’.
I’ve never been happier, don’t you take it wrong.
They told me to be nothing less than excellent.
So I got my straight A’s.
And the rest will come.
But I’m 23.
And that means my eyes are wide open.
I damn know the overwhelming, shared feeling
that we’re never enough.
Overqualified.
Unmotivated.
Deserving.
Underpaid.
And they dare to encourage us to dream. How?
But, yes, the rest will come.
Elsewhere.
In a march, perhaps.
Because there are too many last straws now.
The Awakening
Yes All Women, Hashtag Me Too,
Time’s Up, It’s time to smash taboo
How interesting in this time would
It be to grow to womanhood
Learning, yes, but also fear
What terrifying tales to hear
Of what will happen as you grow
Maybe it’s better not to know
Or hear in talks from only mother
Instead of posts from unknown others
But looking from another way
When you meet the world one day
The stigma’s gone and you are free
To share your story openly
Find comfort that you’re not alone
And this just means that you are grown

November 2016 Election
Last year of course
Was an election year
Which had the world
Trembling with fear
The slate of candidates
Were not the best
An understatement
At my own behest
The Democratic Party
Didn't know what to do
Whether their candidate
Would be a woman or a Jew
The Democratic voters
Mostly want Bernie Sanders
But the Super Electorate
Said only Clinton matters
Hillary Clinton has been
In the White House before
Campaigning with husband Bill
She would even-the-score
Bernie Sanders it seems
Got a lot of support
From Liberals, Socialist
And all that sort
The Republicans seem to think
He's a Communist too
But most of them have
Heads with a loose screw
The Republicans all
Stand on a united front
They all want is control
Of every woman's cunt
To abolish abortions
At least the ones that are legal
Roe verses Wade
They plan to repeal
Then they promise to get rid
Of Obama Care
Another socialized program
Which they say we should all beware
In the front of that pack
Was a real chump
That billionaire crazy
Named Donald Trump
He wants to build walls
Throw all Muslims out
His behavior reminds us
Of Hitler that kraut
A hateful man
With a hateful face
Without any real answers
Such a real disgrace
He has no real plan
Except to choose some advisors
Who will make all the decisions
On who gets hired or fired
His voters are lemmings
He is hateful and unkind
But his supporters like "The Donald"
Because he speaks his mind
But so do most racists
Fascists and dictators too
Recall what was said
By Hitler about Jews?
Not far behind Trump
Was Rubio and Cruz
With their contingent of nut-bags
Who were sure to lose
This country is in trouble
And if cynicism is detected
Because a nation divided
Gets just extremists elected
This situation it seems
Could almost be punny
But, since Trump got elected
We are the joke of the world,
and that is not funny...
