I am not that tall. It is what it is. Leave it be.
Pick a turn of phrase that needs to be retired due to misuse or one that should be brought back. Such as, "You need to pull yourself up by your boot straps." Misused, this phrase originally meant to be ironic and a reference to completing an impossible or ludicrous task. Pick one and explain yourself.

A sight for sore eyes, or maybe it just makes your eyes sore. I want you to dredge up something old of yours. A story you haven't looked at in 5 years or more. Feel free to edit and update, or leave it be. The choice is yours. Also, I am trying this again, I screwed up the last challenge and closed it after two entries, my tiny brain was confused and like an idiot I messed it up. Here we go again.
Simple, pick something old. A story you have not laid eyes upon in five or more years. In the tile, within (brackets) place the years the have past. Feel free to update, or offer it up as is. You may enter two stories if you wish. I will join the fray. Have at it.

You hunt prey. Stalking silently, ready to pounce. Who or what is it? Is your hunt innocent, like a childish game of tag? Perhaps you seek your next meal. Or do you wish to simply kill? Also, what are you? Mix in the contrasts of a proper stalk, patience with agitation, anxiety and composure--- if you wish. Smell the fear, follow the blood, check the spoor, and sneak in their shadow. Rules, 1. Must be a story. 2. Must be in 1st person. 3 Have fun.

Write a fight scene. Pull no punch, throw a low kick, skip the heart, aim for the kidneys. Blows may flow and land. Mayhap there be missed fists and dodged strikes. Head butts hit true, and slashes with the knife are shallow or piercing. Perhaps it is just words, though they cut deeper still. It there hurt, is there purpose? Is pain the only reason? Tell me.

Shake it up. So many of us have a genre we are the most comfortable in. It speaks to us and for us. So what I would like you to do-- is not to write in it. Write a piece about whatever you wish in a genre you don’t dabble in. Do you write fantasy? Write something true. Write Scifi? Write a western. Do you write poems? Write a story or flash fiction. Write fiction? Write a poem. Etc, Etc. But most importantly, have fun!

The time has come to talk of many things... write a bit of dialog where you indicate who is speaking WITHOUT the usual suspects. No said, spoke, voiced, mumbled, asked, etc. Your dialog driven story can be meaningless or meaningful. It can progress your plot or just be a tangent. Perhaps it better explains your characters or explains your fascination with Star Trek. Just have fun and stray from the norm. This if my first challenge, I hope it lives up to my fellow Prosers' expectations.
