Port Girls Have More to Love
There was a young sailor who stopped in town
And he wandered into the wrong bar,
They looked at him sadly, everyone wore a frown.
His mother always told him he’d never get far
But the hooker he met changed his tune
Even after ignoring her scar.
Hard and strong like a Fremen from Dune
He rocked her fast and free
But alas, he ended too soon
To make matters worse, his pipe was empty
Sad and pantless, he retreated to the bathroom
Searched around for a new point of entry
And to stall a bit, he spilled her cheap perfume.
and hoped maybe her "favors" were free
Or his credit score spelled his doom
Outside in the bar a band played eerily
The heroin dimmed their sunken mood
and killed the buzz from the LSD
To my right I found the righteous dude
Heaping his judgment as if wearing a crown
With an evil grin, he finished his food
Rules were as follows:
1) ABA BCB ... rhyme scheme
2) Had to be about sex, drugs and rock & roll
3) We write one line each, in rotation.

To Another Day
Sunday morn, skies that mourned,
wrinkled blankets, undone laundry,
notes that piled, lectures paused,
plates and bowls, last night meals.
Seasons changes, fall and rains,
falling apart, piece by piece.
Save me, please, screamed to the skies,
begged and hurt, lone in a crowd.
Deep inside, something changed,
life felt different, so did I.
What once was, what now is,
what would be, all blurred in one.
Barely human, days all same,
can't be machine, feelings clawed.
Bewitched in a maze, no way out,
dark that stayed, lights that frayed.
Would I leave, this game of hurt,
or would I stay, forever and frail?
Shall I try, when all things fail,
or just let go, as fate may plead?
But I will wake, to another day,
for dawn may break, and the sun may rise,
birds may sing, and the rains may pour,
nights may fall, and the cold may creep.
I will wake to another day.
black and white
Black and white
Black and white
A love so strong
In black and white
I loved you as a child
Maybe you were the only one I loved
But, alas, it was only a love
In black and white
Black and white
Black and white
Keep them apart
Just black and white
The right and wrong can mix
Eschewing our lives and world
Bringing the gloomy grays, I beg
Just black and white
Black and white
Black and white
I live between all of the
Black and white
I wish I could sing to it
Sing to everything that is and was
Everything that I want to be
Black and white
Black and white
Black and white
Repeat it, play on
Repeat it, play on
I wish I'd never have to move on
From sitting in the comfort and safety
Of your love and your voice
Repeat it, play on
My love, my life, my lover
Caress my ears with your song
I hold on to you, I want to cry
It's just black and white
The song will end
The sun will set
I'll look at my life
It's just black, no white
The darkness will come
The heavens will hum
I'll cry in the dark
Black and white
As I sit at my laptop, the open windows let a cool breeze blow through, carrying the scent of spring with it. My coffee is sitting beside me, and its aroma fills my nostrils. I can smell the daffodils outside my window, I also can still smell the coconut I toasted this morning for on my dessert for tonight, and soon I will smell fresh bread baking in the oven. These are the smells of my home, and I wouldn't trade them for the world.
SoMoSoGo
They call me Somo for short and that would be my given name, in a way
Sister of Moses
If you know the name, you may say it
If not, you can call me SoMo
the important part is the one everyone always forgets:
SoGo
Servant of God
I know I don't seem it
Everyone expects servants to be perfect, especially when they work for God, but the truth is that we're mere servants
We're flawed, but it's my transparency about those flaws that makes me worthy of Him, so I tell myself
Either way, one does one's best and that's what I do
Either way, I am a child of The Almighty
And I wear it proudly so that I may always remember
I’m Back
Hello heartfelt phenomenal writers and readers.
I'm sorry I haven't been on here as much as I loved, but unfortunately I was a victim of mildew poisoning and caught pneumonia twice back to back. I had to move and start over slowly. I have been jumping on reading some great writing. I love everyone on here and I pray for us all.
Now that I am functioning so much better, I have to humble down and ask for your help. Those that know me on here knows that I have a program for homeless and sheltered children to reward them with books and Tshirt. It has been happening since 2016.
Every year I start a Tshirt drive to buy tshirts and materials to donate through the summer. My health has made it tough for me but I refuse to stop.
So if anyone have some spare change or bucks they can send to help out, will be greatly appreciated. If you have a cash app:
$fistchallenge4kids
Paypal- poo3sha@hotmail.com.
**Any donations over ten dollars is greatly appreciated and can be matched with a deal I have to make a shirt if your choice over the summer for free as a thank you from fistchallenge4kids. Just email me at sharondabriggs24@gmail.com. Thank you for your support and blessings.

Wildflowers
Descending angelic between space
Enveloping memory: warm, fragrant
Vibrant wafts of brilliance orchestrated
In staccato time, beaming beyond
A rainbow on youth’s breath —
Walking barefoot on a summer day
Fresh cut grass and an enchanted garden
Of hope and mystery: nature beckons
With prisms of time reflected in my eyes
Colorblind
As long as I can remember, I've been colorblind. I've always seen the world in shades of green. The kids at school would make fun of me for it, especially Pat Sorenson, and it would often make me upset. In an effort to make me feel better, my grandma told me about a legend. That those with green vision were gifted by the Goddess of Luck.
I know she made it up, but it's still nice to think about. My grandma was just cool like that. I remember eating mashed potatoes with her in the trailer, watching movies together. Our favorite one was Clover, about a young girl entering a dance competition with an Irish jig. Grandma and I would make fun of it, especially all the cheesy special effects.
One day, grandma insisted I stop by her house. I thought it was an emergency, but when I got there, she had just made cookies.
"These aren't just any cookies," Grandma winked. "They give you blessings."
That's my grandma all right. I tasted one and took the rest home. But on my drive, I noticed something.
A rainbow. With more than one color.
It was almost as if I could taste it. For the first time ever, I was seeing colors. I pulled over to the side of the road and just stared. Grandma was right. She was right all along.
Spring
She’s young,
in a green and brown sundress
splashed with colorful wild flowers.
She sings
to the sun with warmth and brightness,
long, brown hair dancing in the breeze.
Her music
is healing, life-giving strands of sound,
breezes in the rain, music from the pain.
She dances
like a dandelion seed floating in the air,
a butterfly fluttering from bloom to bloom.
