Excerpt 1
"Alice, talk to me. Please." He looked at her with pain in his eyes, pain that she had caused.
"No. I can't talk about this to people. Not even you Ryan."
The more you reject him Alice, the worse the pain gets. Her doubt, known as Megan, started.
Shut. Up. Alice told the annoying voice.
What? It's the truth!
No, it isn't.
"Alice, please. Talk to me." He pleaded for the information, but she wouldn't give it up and tell him.
Tell him, Alice! He has the right to know the truth! Megan begged her.
"No," Alice said the one word that broke his heart and her own a little too.
She started to walk away from him.
"Why? Why can't you tell me? Of all people?" Ryan had to know, so he grabbed her arm in efforts to make her stay. "I'm your Ma-"
"No, you're not that person to me. You think you are, but you aren't. OK? Deal with it. I'm someone else's, not yours." She turned away from him again, but he stopped her from moving away.
"You were mine once Alice. Don't you remember?" His hand traced her cheek when she felt- and he saw- tears starting to emerge. The way it used to be.
"But I'm not yours anymore."
"Do. You. Remember?" He repeated, begging for the answer with his eyes and his motions.
The tone he had in his voice was enough to finally break the walls Alice had spent years building around her. It was enough for her to finally drop her facade. It was enough to bring back old feelings and memories long forgotten.
It was enough to...
Excerpt 2
"Do you remember? Do you remember the things we felt?" His right hand ran alongside her cheek, and she shuddered at his touch. "Do you remember the sparks we felt when we kissed? Do you remember staying up late at night talking?"
He leaned in closer, so close that his lips were at her ear.
Then he whispered:
"Do you remember the heat you felt when I touched your hand?" His voice was a low whisper, but it was loud enough for Alice to hear.
Alice was speechless. There was nothing she could think of to say, or that she could say. There were no words she could speak, and no actions she could take to get away from him. Alice was officially stuck.
"I- I- I-" She stammered, looking down at her feet.
The thing is, Alice did remember everything. Every first touch to every last kiss.
His hand found hers, and she could not hide the warmth she felt emerge from it, heating up her entire body and his signature smell of grass and cherry blossoms took over her nose. It was a wonderful, intoxicating scent.

Alice's POV
I looked in the mirror and smoothed my dress down. The heels I wore matched well with the black and white short dress. I was prepared. This was only for a casual outing at a café, this was only for a casual date.
I looked quite pretty, actually. I was contemplating whether or not I should wear my black, frizzy and curly hair down or up, so I put it up into a simple ponytail. I grabbed my purse and took a deep breath in the mirror.
He never liked it when I wore high heels, but I do.
I headed to the café, where I was meeting him for my date. The smell of muffins, coffee, and tea entered my nostrils, I could hear the sound of the guests chatting to each other along with the machines buzzing, the sight of a crowded place bursting with people, and then I saw him.
He looked handsome in the attire he wore. In fact, he almost looked sexy.
We had only been dating for a few weeks, and I will admit I was shocked when he asked me out. Time has gone by so fast, it seems like yesterday when I left-
No. I can't think about that now. I don't want to ruin this date I have. It's going great and I just can't ruin it or cut it short. To be honest, I'm actually excited for numerous things.
I assume that he must have seen me because he had a big goofy grin on his face when I looked at him again. I waved at him and started to walk to him. Usually, when we met up like this he would be late, but today he was early.
I walked to him. When I reached him, he kissed me on the cheek and pulled me in for a quick hug.
"Hey," I said to him, being as normal as I could. I was quite nervous about this.
"Hey," He said, then checked out my outfit, making me blush a little. "You look amazing."
"Thank you."
Chapter 2: We Meet Yet Again
Chapter 2: We Meet Yet Again
Alice's POV
••••
"Piercy uses many various techniques in his poem "Starry Night." One of these techniques is the use of similes, which compare objects or people to something by saying it is like something. "A rose, beautiful, gentle, but fragile like a human-"
A knock on the door stopped me in my tracks.
I looked to the door, I saw a familiar set of brown eyes pierced its gaze on me.
No.
No, no, no, no! It can't be! No! It just can't be!
What is he doing here? Why? Why is he here?
"Hold that thought Alice," our class's teacher walked towards the door, partly opened it and inspected what the commotion at the door was.
Chapter 12: But Loving Him Was Red
Chapter 12: But Loving Him Was Red
She's gotten better. Ryan thought. Her voice has improved immensely since I last heard it, it's gotten stronger.
"'Alice:
Loving him was like driving a new Maserati down a dead end street
Faster than the wind,
Passion ain't a sin
Ending so suddenly.
Loving him was like trying to change your mind
Once you're already flying through the freefall
Like the colours in autumn, so bad,
Just before they lose it all.
Losing him was blue like I'd never known
Missing him was dark grey all alone
Forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you never met
Loving him was Red.
Loving him was Red.
Touching him was like
Realising all you ever wanted was right there in front of you
Memorising him was as easy as knowing all the words
To your old favourite song
Fighting with him was like
Trying to solve a crossword and realising there's no right answer
Regretting him was like
Wishing you'd never found out that love could be that strong
Losing him was blue like I'd never known
Missing him was dark grey all alone
Forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you never met
Loving him was Red.
Oh, Red. Burning Red.
Remembering him comes in flashbacks
And echoes
Tell myself it's time now,
Gotta let go
But moving on from him is impossible
And I just see it all in my head
In burning Red.
Loving him was Red.
Oh, losing him was blue like I'd never known
Missing him was dark grey all alone
Forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you never met
Cause loving him was Red.
Yeah, yeah Red.
Burning Red.
And it's a right he's spinning round in my head
Comes back to me, burning Red.
Yeah yeah
His love was like driving a new Maserati down a dead-end street."'
Chapter : I Don’t Want To Hear About The Bad Blood
Chapter : I Don't Want To Hear About The Bad Blood
"'Ryan:
We were young and drinking in the pub
There was nowhere else to go
And you said you always had my back
But would how were we to know?
That these are the days that bind you
Together, forever
And these little things define you
Forever, forever
All this Bad Blood here,
Won't you let it dry?
It's been cold for years,
Won't you let it lie?
If we're only ever looking back
We will drive ourselves insane
As the friendship goes, resentment grows
We will walk our different ways
But those are the days that bind us
Together, forever
And those little things define us
Forever, forever
All this Bad Blood here,
Won't you let it dry?
It's been cold for years
Won't you let it lie?"'
Alice looked at him. It was look that said, "No, don't do this. Don't do it." It was full of hate, but partly, it showed she had some sort of feelings towards him, whether she liked it or not, she did.
She knew the next lyrics, so she participated in the song.
"'Ryan and Alice:
And I don't want to hear about the Bad Blood anymore
I don't want to hear you talk about it anymore
I don't want to hear about the Bad Blood anymore
I don't want to hear you talk about it anymore, oh oh oh.
Ryan:
All this Bad Blood here
Won't you let it dry?
It's been cold for years,
Won't you let it lie?"'
Chapter 16: Do You Remember?
Chapter 16: Do You Remember?
Alice strutted down the corridor, taking in the fresh air as she went to get some cool water.
She reached the water fountains and filled up her bottle. It was not quite full to the brim, but it would do.
She was heading back to her lesson when she was pulled to the side by a figure.
Tall, devilishly handsome, and...
Arrogant by far.
She knew exactly who it was when a soft hand went over her mouth to stop her from screaming for help. And when Alice felt sparks fly through his hand, she knew for definite who it was.
Ryan stood behind her, one hand over her soft lips, the other hand around her waist. She didn't struggle, at first, then she was squirming to try and break free from his tight grip.
Not gonna happen, he thought in his head, a smile creeping onto his face. Not this time. Not this time.
Seeing if it would get her anywhere, Alice licked the hand covering her mouth.
But unlike the reaction that was supposed to happen, Ryan didn't flinch.
"Sweetheart, you should know that that trick has no effect on me anymore."

And she missed it so much over the last three years. She hated admitting it, but the fact was very true.
So true, that she almost sighed- like she felt so joyous and in love. But Alice stopped herself before she the sound came up her throat and out of her mouth.
Ryan gazed at her, taken aback by her beauty. He loved her, and deep down he knew she loved him too. Why couldn't she just open her heart and accept the fact that they were meant to be together?
They loved each other long ago- so why couldn't they try again? Was something wrong?
Ryan still loved her, and he knew inside his heart that Alice loves him inside- she was just too stubborn to admit it.
