Chapter One
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Darkness slowly swept across the empty underworld, blanketing the ground in shadow. The world was different shades of black and grey and the ground was flakey as if it had been littered with ashes. Plant life was scarce at best and a creature caught outside was gone within the blink of an eye when spotted. With night approaching, the dark world looked even darker. All living things were asleep, the thick droplets of rain pattered against the dusty ground, which limited sight and sound.
For one, however, this was the perfect opportunity to leave his eternal prison. His ebony skin and dark red eyes helped him blend into the darkness. He wore a worn red hoodie with ripped black jeans, silver chains connecting his feet to the wall.
Using the last of his stored magic, the dark male broke the chains and made his way into the dark hallways of the prison. Bared cells lined either wall as the red-eyed male sneaked past each cage.
Suddenly, a voice broke through the jarring silence and a hand reached through the bars and grabbed onto him, dull red eyes searching his.
“Mikaela! Don’t leave me! If you do I’ll die! They’ll kill me, please, Mikaela take me with you!” Cain whisper-yelled, panic coloring his voice noticeably.
The dark elf looked back at his brother with tears in his eyes and responded; “I can’t, Cain, you need to stay with Father. Learn from him. Become the king we need you to be.”
“No! They’ll kill me, Mikaela, I need you.” Cain pleaded as his eyes watered, the tears threatening to fall. Cain never wanted the future that was thrust upon his shoulders, he envied his older brother who got to explore outside the walls.
When the pair of siblings attempted to abandon their home and responsibilities, their father had caught them. They were thrown into prison as punishment.
“Goodbye, Cain, stay strong.” The dark elf, Mikaela, said as a single tear slipped from his eye without permission. He would run away from his past life. From his brother, family, and everything he had once known and loved. He would run away, into the dangerous unknown.
“Wait, Mikaela,” The dark elf froze, “You’ll need your sword.” The little brother moved forward, straining against the chains and bars to place the cold handle of the sword into his brother’s hand. It had an onyx blade, with rubies sewn into the black
leather grip. It shimmered wickedly as the soft light of the quarter moon lit its polished surface.
“C-can I come with you?” Cain held his breath, anticipation welling up inside of him.
The conflicted look on Mikaela’s face was noticeable, even in the dim lighting, but Cain had already decided for him. Because of the chains around the prisoners’ ankles, their powers diminished. However, once they were removed, they’re power returned with ease.
Mikaela released his brother in a similar fashion as he had himself, and was nearly knocked over when his little brother leaped up and hugged him. Mikaela hesitantly wrapped an arm around Cain, squeezing him comfortably.
They broke away, realizing the situation. They had to bolt before the guards returned or the other prisoners realized they were escaping. Quickly, they raced down the corridors, burst through the unguarded door, and into the forest.
The two brothers ran through the woods with no sense of direction or purpose other than to get away from the prison. As the ran, the scenery around them began to change from the gloomy gray wasteland to a forest. The trunks gray in color but at least they were beginning to getaway. They’d have to run for a few more days in order to get back to the lusher areas of the Underdeath.
As the started to rise, they stopped at a small creek to rest.
“What are we going to do now, Mikaela?” Cain asked his brother in a small voice.
“I don’t know, but we can’t stop. They’ll track us.” Mikaela replied, pulling a handful of water into his white hair.
So they continued marching forward while the dull yellow light of the sun peeked through gray clouds that slowly grew thinner as they approached the cleaner area.
Cain asked, “Mikaela, what’s with that light? It’s brighter than back in the Underdeath.”
“Idiot,” Mikaela replied affectionately, “That’s the sun. What did you think it was?” A hint of sarcasm peeked through his tired voice.
Chapter Two
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chapter Two
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
From the way the two acted towards each other, it was easy to assume they were siblings but Mikaela was confused by why one was a demon and the other an angel.
Mikaela asked Elizabeth, “What’s the deal with the two of you?”
The angel informed him of their tale, “Long ago before this planet, even before the gods themselves, there was chaos. From that chaos came a Light. The Light was a being simply known as The Primordial. The Primordial knew that if the universe it envisioned were to exist it needed to spawn offspring.” The angel paused.
The demon continued, “He tore himself apart to produce his offspring, from his heart came the god Ajax, from his Brain the goddess Melia, and from his eyes the god Aiolos. These gods controlled the primal forces of the universe. Ajax controlled Earth, Melia controlled Water, and Aiolos controlled Air. Together they created our world which they named Pandora. The gods Ajax and Melia had a child who they named Thanatos. While Ajax, Melia, & Thanatos were off being happy. Aiolos was alone.” He said.
Then the two started talking in unison, which was obviously creepy.
“Eventually his sorrow that stemmed from his despair turned into wrath. He abandoned his family to go on his own. He eventually found an unholy site known as the Underdeath. The fiendish energy from this location warped his body turning him into a demonic recreation of his former self, bent on destroying his family. Fueled by his rage, he continued to rampage until he came across a young man. This young man was named Ezra and was the target of Thanatos’ affections. Ezra knew that if he didn’t act fast he would be killed.” The demon stopped and started eating the candy that was brought to the table. The angel glared at the server, but said nothing, opting to face-palm, and continue the story.
“Anyway, Ezra sold his soul to Thanatos in exchange for saving him. Thanatos managed to banish his uncle back to the Underdeath. Because Ezra sold his soul to Thanatos, he became Thanatos’s favorite servant. Eventually, Ezra started to return Thanatos’ feelings and after many millenniums they had two children whom they named Damian and Elizabeth.“
“When we were born, we were both angels but eventually he met a demon, this demon perverted his morals when it came to the truth, justice, and beauty. Eventually, he started to rebel and was cast down from heaven. Then he became the demon lord of the thirteenth layer. He, unlike Aiolos, bears no ill will towards our family.” she paused, gesturing to Damian to continue.
“That is why I am treated well among celestial’s and horribly among my own people." Damian finished the story with a tone of sadness unusual for him.
“Wait, if they were male then how did they have kids?” Mikaela asked.
“Don’t try to explain gods,” said a girl who hadn’t spoken up until then. She’s magic with her wand and spellbook, “Hi, I’m Karen,” she introduced herself.
“Pleasure to make your acquaintance,” Mikaela responded.
Mikaela then asked with a hint of superiority, “So, why is everyone here, gathered at this inn?”
The lich snapped back, “You know why we are here. You called this meeting.”
Mikaela responded angrily, “No, I did not. I don't know why you may think that but you are clearly mistaken.”
“Sorry,” the lich apologized, “Different meeting.”
She refused to clarify.
Goliath replied, “Lunch.”
“I thought we were just going to gossip like usual.” said the Necronomicon, who up until that moment had been making dirty jokes.
“Well, anyway who called us here if you haven’t? No one else ever calls a meeting.” asked the Necronomicon with more than just a hint of dryness in her voice.
“I did,” said the larger of the two demons.
The demon was tall, easily as tall as the Goliath, with dirty blonde hair and brown eyes. Just his mere presence made both of the brothers blush. He was attractive even by the rigid elven beauty standards they were raised with.
“Of course you did,” said Damian with a slightly mocking tone, “But why did you?”
The lich suddenly spoke up and answered for the larger demon, “He called it because of all the Chaos in the Underdeath. While you were busy chasing after all the men on earth he was being slightly more productive.”
Damian replied, “Girl, chill. You need to get a hobby.”
The lich looked confused, “I have one. It’s looking into the future and knowing everyone's personal business, so I can use it as blackmail.”
“You just got ten times more creepy,” Damian responded, obviously going through all the things he had done that she could know about and use against him. He shuddered.
“Thank you.” The lich said with a nod and then stood in the back of the room, watching everyone with her ominous, glowing blue eyes intently.
Mikaela was very confused because of all the arguments but asked, “Why are we supposed to help you? You’ve not done anything to make us want to help.”
The larger demon yelled, “Because if you don’t I will personally kill each and every last one of you.”
Everyone jumped back at that comment. Except for the lich, she just laughed.
“You could try,” She said with a smirk and he blushed, “However, I could. Easily. So I suggest you do as he says.”
Damian shoved the lich away angrily as the larger demon started talking again.
“S'éloigner de lui” he growled at her, with a murderous but lovestruck look in his eyes. The lich raised an eyebrow at him but said nothing.
From the background, the elf yelled, “That’s gay.”
The Goliath responded, “Like your mom.”
“Well anyway, I need your help because as a Demon Lord I personally can’t attend too. You will need to eliminate the king of the dark elves.”
When Mikaela heard the demons last words he burst into tears. He would have to kill his father. He looked over to Cain. Mikaela did not see his brother’s emotions change at the words of the demon. Mikaela wiped his eyes with the front of his tunic, trying to be strong like his brother.
“Why are you crying, Mikaela? Your dad killed your mom. The only reason you are here and not there about to be slaughtered by me is that you thought he would kill you too, when he realized Cain was gone.” The lich said uninterested making Mikaela stare at her in shock.
“H-how…” Mikaela started but stopped when he saw her shaking her head disapprovingly.
Damian whispered in his ear mockingly, “Oh no, you have to kill your own father, whatever will you do~?” The angel slapped him when she heard the comment. “Owie~ That hurt,” he complained.
She apologized for him, “Sorry, he always feels the need to sow discord.”
Damian spoke to the larger demon, “If you can’t directly interfere Asher, then how can we?” he pointed to himself and Elizabeth.
Asher responded, “You can’t, but you can aid them at least.”
Damian asked, “Why should we help you help them. You are just as able to help them as we are.”
Asher responded, “I am too busy to meddle in such matters,” The lich snorted at this, but didn’t say anything. Asher frowned, then continued. “Besides I’ll let you have your greatest desire.” When he heard the last word Damian immediately blushed and impulsively responded without checking with Elizabeth.
“We'll do it!!” He said, and Elizabeth smacked him with her shoe on the back of the head. She glared at him.
“What have we said about answering questions regarding both of us without checking with me first? You know you can be impulsive.”
Damian whimpered, “Ow, stop hitting me with your shoe.” Elizabeth turned to Asher.
“We’ll do it.” She told him.
Chapter Three
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As the morning light hit Damian, it made him reflect on his feelings. He and the rest of the group, including Asher, had been traveling for three days on the journey towards the Underdeath. The lich had dragged Asher by the ear for the first few miles to make sure he came before he swore a blood oath not to leave before the quest was over unless she told him to. Damian was about to jump up and go get some breakfast, but then he remembered he was brooding. He had been forced to assist with the chores. Him, the demon lord, the bringer of the downfall of the Kingdom of Iros, ruler of the 13th layer of the Underdeath. Of course, the lich didn’t have to. No one could ever find her. But if he skipped the chores then he would have less time to spend with Mikaela and would be faced with a lecture from Elizabeth.
“Gods, why can’t I figure out which guy I like?” In his mind both of them were perfect. There was Mikaela: the perfectly cute, nice guy, who showed kindness to everyone. And there was Asher: the devilishly handsome, bad boy that drove him crazy. He sighed exasperatedly.
He knew that Elizabeth would tell him to go with Mikaela because it was extremely obvious that she had a burgeoning crush on Cain and there was no way he was asking the lich for advice. He had a major grudge against the lich because of the fact she created a ghost that only he seemed to be able to see. It hung out around Mikaela and Asher whenever he wanted to speak to them, just to annoy him. He knew the lich could hear everything the ghost could because the ghost had a tendency to tease him whenever he was alone.
If he could kill her without upsetting Elizabeth or Mikaela, he would. He really hated those knowing looks she gave him, they drove him crazy. Not the good kind of crazy like when he got berated by Asher. Not the head-over-heels-in-love crazy, the kind of crazy that caused the emotional outbursts he was known for.
When the group started traveling again the sun had just set on the horizon. Then on the path, they saw a light. When they took a moment to examine it they saw what it was. An orphanage. It was on fire. Elizabeth groaned.
“Damian. Again?” She said, giving him a look.
The demon responded panicked, “It wasn’t me this time! See, I don’t have matches.”
“Again? This time?” Mikaela asked with a worried tone. The demon just shot him a judgy look.
After Mikaela recovered from the look, he said with a weak smile, “Thinking of those kids burning to death warms my heart.”
Everyone stared at Mikaela like he was crazy, except Damian and Cain.
Damian responded to this flirtatiously, “You’re cute when you’re sadistic.”
However, Elizabeth was horrified about that comment, but then again she was the pinnacle of good especially when compared to Damian, Mikaela, Asher, and the lich who were, in that order, mean, sadistic, evil, and more evil.
After Asher literally had to knock Elizabeth out and drag her away from the burning orphanage.
Asher started talking to Damian, “I swear, she is good to a fault.”
He responded, “Yeah, it’s annoying.”
For once they both agreed on something. After Elizabeth came to, she and Damian decided they needed to practice combat after Damian went on the world guilt trip.
“We need to practice fighting,” she said.
He responded, “Why~ that’s so much work!”
Then he figured out why she wanted to practice, “Unless... is this to impress Cain? Ohhh, does someone have a crush?”
Elizabeth’s face turned bright red and she started denying everything. “No, no, no, no, no, no! That is in no way the reason!”
“Then what?” he inquired mockingly.
She responded belligerently, “Whenever we need to fight, you rely too heavily on your magic and ability to fly. If you were unable to use them then you would be extremely weak.”
He grudgingly agreed but still protested, “But it’s so much more fun to cause people to spontaneously combust. And in what instance would I not be able to use my magic nor fly?”
They trained for hours until Damian started throwing up blood. After he recovered he gave Elizabeth the one-finger salute and flew off. Elizabeth proceeded to facepalm and sigh; her little brother was so annoying. Then there were the times that he did random things like when he was fighting the army of Iros and charmed a third of the army and turned the rest into cats (because of course, he did ). Whenever he came to visit he still brought ten charmed bodyguards. There were also the times he flirted with random guys that he thought were hot or as he said it “worthy of his personal attention”.

Chapter Four
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The entrance to the Underdeath was a huge cave with crystals the size of stalagmites. Karen was ogling the crystals and even chopped up part of the crystal. Cain took the moment to lecture her about it.
“Karen, you shouldn’t do that, it destroys the environment and crystal drakes lose their food source.”
After he finished the sentence he looked around the room and grabbed a lizard that looked like it was made of pure crystal. Damian and Mikaela started teasing Karen and Cain.
“Cain and Karen sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G. First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a baby in a baby carriage. That's not all, Cain got hit with a-.” then they deviated with Mikaela ending the song with “-basketball.” and Damian with “-fireball.”
Then Cain barely dodged a fireball the demon flung. Damian burst into a fit of glee and while he was recovering Elizabeth smacked him with her shoe. Where there would have been a bruise was a glowing string. “Elizabeth if you're going to use restraining magic then at least do it to Asher too, also Ow.” Elizabeth took her little brother’s suggestion for once and smacked Asher too and the same thing happened to him too.
“You witch!” Asher yelled at Damian.
Elizabeth shouted, “Watch your profanity! Also don’t talk to him like that.”
From the background, Teddy growled at the path they were meant to be following. The elf and Goliath, who were off in Narnia up until that point, had come back.
“Weren’t we supposed to follow that path?” the elf inquired with Turkish delight still in his mouth. Karen facepalmed when she realized they were all acting like idiots (as per usual).
Once the group decided to finally stop arguing and generally acting like idiots, they headed down the path. It comprised of blood-soaked bricks and every twenty feet they found the hanged bodies of dark elves. Most of the group was shocked at the number of bodies but after a few miles, they grew used to it.
None of the group were talking but Damian was humming something that sounded suspiciously like ‘Follow the Yellow Brick Road.’ He was unfazed by the glares he got from the rest of the group and continued humming. Eventually, they came across an enormous fortress that dwarfed even Asher who was the tallest member of the group at 6’5”.
“Are we going to be able to even get in?” Elizabeth asked.
Damian took a moment to think and then responded, “If Asher is willing to help we can get through the door.”
After Asher agreed with a wolfish look in his eyes he said, “Anyone under eighteen covers your eyes and ears.” Karen, Elizabeth, and Cain did as he asked and after five minutes Damian and Asher started violently making out. Mikaela could tell that they were both into it. After about ten minutes of increasing violence that Asher targeted Damian with, they finished the ‘ritual’ and they both got off the ground.
Damian then channeled an extremely powerful burst of fire magic, disintegrated a door, and yelled at Elizabeth to open her eyes.
Mikaela was filled with curiosity at how Damian managed to accomplish the impressive feat of magic from ten minutes of making out and getting beat up. He was soon distracted by the lich walking out of the hole where her door was, obviously mad.
“You know you could have knocked. Instead, now I have to replace my 300-year-old mahogany,” She said, fuming. Mikaela quickly recovered from his distraction and focused on the question he wanted to ask Damian.
“How did you disintegrate the door by making out?” he asked with a tone of jealousy in his voice.
Damian flung a heavy book that was bound with what appears to be human flesh and spoke with an annoyed tone, “The answer’s on page 13.”
Chapter Five
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Damian squealed and reacted by teleporting back to the tents landing on top of Mikaela, who was still blushing from the encounter. The rest of the group swarmed the tent.
“Woah, get a room you two,” Karen said while averting her eyes.
Just to annoy the viewers, Mikaela leaned forward and pressed a light kiss to Damian’s cheek. Then he jumped up and continuing with his everyday activities, leaving a stunned and blushing Damian behind.
“Oooh, someone’s in L-O-V-E.” Elizabeth teased her brother.
“You’re a witch,” Damian said with a look that could kill.
“Are you denying it?” Karen asked innocently.
“Of course not, that would be silly. Why would I not love my boyfriend?”
The crowd gasped, stars sparkling in their eyes as they learned of this. Damian walked out of the tent, trying to locate the white-haired male whom had stolen his heart and probably had no intention of returning it. Damian found Mikaela at the edge of the forest, he was chopping wood for the fires.
“Mikaela?” Damian asked hesitantly.
“Yeah?” The darker male turned to face the other, that was when Damian realized his shirt was off.
“Abs- I mean about what happened, I was wondering what that made us?” Damian spoke, blood running down his nose.
Ignoring the nosebleed, “Well, I think it’s pretty obvious that I love you.”
Damian remembered the other saying that which made his face turn bright red.
“I love you, too.” He confirmed.
Mikaela moved so that he was standing in front of Damian, looking down into his dark brown eyes. The taller put a hand under his chin and angled it so that Damian was looking at him.
“Would you want to be mine?” Mikaela asked, blushing noticeably.
“Yours, Truly,” Damian whispered, blushing even more, if possible.
Mikaela pulled the shorter into a deep kiss, their tongues pressing against the others When the two pulled away, there was a thin line of saliva that connected their lips. Damian blushed, more so when Mikaela leaned forward to lick his lips clean.
Suddenly, from the edge of the woods, they heard the crackle of a fire. The two boys pulled away, looking in the direction in time to see Asher moved from the trees with fire dancing in his palms. The promise of death was clear in his dark eyes.
Mikaela stood protectively in front of Damian, ready to protect the demon from anything.
“Oh look, the slut got another boy toy.” Asher snarled viciously.
“Don’t call him that.” Mikaela defended Damian.
“Why not? It’s what he is. Hasn’t he tried to get in your pants yet?” Asher taunted, glaring at the pair.
“That’s not any of your business. Also, where's my brother?” Mikaela demanded.
“That’s not your business.”
“Wow, throwing that back at me? You must be really pathetic.” Mikaela challenged.
“Do you want to fight me, Puny Mortal?”
Mikaela looked back at Damian with an amused look on his face, “Puny Mortal?” Turning back to Asher, he added, “Bring it on.”
“No, let’s not do this!” Karen screamed as she ran into the woods, but then she exploded into flames because Asher waved his hand at her.
“NOT AGAIN, NOT AGAIN, NOT AGAIN! I AM NOT LOSING MY HAIR AGAIN!” Karen shrieked.
Damian rolled his eyes and downpour fell on Karen.
“Oh My Dad, this is giving me a snore-gasm. Let's get this started.” Damian snarked.
“Aww. It’s so funny, the skank thinks he can fight me.” Asher remarked with a grin.
“I. AM. NOT. A. SKANK.” Damian hissed with a look of fury.
Mikaela moved with rapier in hand and slashed Asher in the chest. Asher teleported away in a burst of flame.

Chapter Six
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Emerging from the woods, the pair looked exhausted from spending the night in the forest. Back at the tents, they found that everyone had packed up and were ready to move on.
“We heard screaming from the woods, but Karen convinced us you were fine.” Elizabeth said while running up to her brother, worry in her blue eyes.
Damian blushed hard at her words, hiding his face in Mikaela’s shoulder while memories of the night before flashed in his once-somewhat-innocent mind.
“You look like you two were in a fight with a bear.” Karen added, a knowing look in her eyes.
“I mean I didn’t say we weren’t.” Mikaela said with a smile.
“What’s that on your face?” Elizabeth asked pointing at something at the corner of Damian’s mouth.
Mikaela saw how embarrassed his boyfriend was and decided to be a devil. The dark male leaned forward and kissed the spot, making Damian’s face turn bright red with a blush.
“Oh no, you didn’t!” Elizabeth seemed to understand what happened last night and left with Karen.
Mikaela shrugged, “I blame the bear.”
“He was really good.” Damian teased.
It was Mikaela’s turn to blush.
Mikaela bent down to talk to him “Damian, where are you’re handcuffs?”
Damian pulled the handcuffs out of thin air, “Why do you ask, do you want to use them again?” Damian asked seductively.
“Don’t tempt me.” Mikaela teased.
“But that’s my job, I wouldn’t want to get fired.” Damian smiled, leaning up on the tips of his toes to press a kiss to his lips. The demon wanted a better kiss, but Mikaela pulled away just to tease Damian.
“Come on, let's go pack and get ready to leave.” Mikaela flicked the top of Damian’s head with his finger.
“Fine, but only if you help me.”
The pair moved towards their tent. Damian grabbed his knife and pillow.
“Hurry up, we’re leaving in five minutes.”
Damian turns to Mikaela “Can I get a kiss for the road.”
Mikaela smiled and leaned forward, pressing their lips together. Damian wrapped his arms around Mikaela’s neck, pulling the taller closer to him. The demon’s small wings fluttered happily on his back as Mikaela traced his bottom lip, seeking entrance.
When Damian opened his mouth slightly, the other’s tongue was already exploring his mouth. The two pulled away after several minutes of hard making out, panting for breath.
“It’s a long road, I might need another.” Damian panted, desperate for another kiss.
“Come on gays, we don’t have all day!” Karen yelled from the caravan, which was being pulled by a team of undead horses. The caravan was loot from having to kill Mikaela’s father while the horses they had were the lich‘s. The horses continued on their way, Damian and Mikaela often walked beside the caravan as the day progressed.
“What do you think will happen when we find my brother?” Mikaela asked, imagining his little brother who had begged to come with him when they escaped prison. It seemed so long ago now.
Damian slipped his hand into Mikaela’s, giving it a comforting squeeze.
“I don’t know, I didn’t know him very well.” Damian wanted to console his boyfriend, however, he didn’t know how.
“He was very energetic, and happy all the time. But when we met you guys… He became very cold and emotionless. I didn’t like how he was spending so much time with Asher.” Mikaela found himself rambling and smiled apologetically at the demon walking beside him.
“I love hearing your voice, I just wish you were talking about something happy.” Damian pouted lovingly.
Mikaela kissed his forehead, though his red eyes remained sad, “Me too.”
They continued to walk in silence for a while, soon the air around them became awkward.
“I didn’t mean to make you upset, Mikaela, je suis désolé” The demon whispered after a while, fearing that he was being insensitive about his lover’s missing brother.
“You didn’t do anything, I’m just thinking about how lucky I am that you chose me instead of Asher. I had the biggest crush on you when I first met you.” Mikaela teased him gently.
Damian’s face turned dark red, “I liked you, too, when we first met. But I also liked Asher. I felt confused. Sorry it took me so long to see you really love me.”
“It’s okay, besides, you’re mine now.” Mikaela kissed the other swiftly. Damian loved this side of Mikaela, being so dominant with him.
As the sun began to set and Damian got an idea.
“Have you ever wanted to fly?” Damian asked his lover.
Before Mikaela could respond, Damian used his magic to make huge white wings spread out of Mikaela’s back. The taller gasped at suddenly having a pair of wings, Damian was blushing hard at how hot he looked.
Damian moved his wings up and down in a flying motion, after a while Mikaela had it down. Then the pair jumped into the air, their wings strongly beating against the air.
“Make sure you get back here before dinner, otherwise we’ll eat without you!” Elizabeth shouted.
Damian ignored his sister’s order.
“Isn’t this great?” Damian yelled over the wind that buffeted them.
“Yeah!” Mikaela yelled back, the new flyer tucked his wings in and shot towards the ground.
Damian circled above for a few seconds before taking off after them. When he reached the elf, they locked hands and plummeted towards the ground faster. At the last second, Mikaela spread his wings wide and shot upwards, pulling Damian under him. The demon flapped his smaller wings as they flew parallel to each other.
The pair doubled back and made their way back to the campsite, where Elizabeth was starting to hand out dinner. The wings on Mikaela’s back began to disintegrate as Damian’s magic wore off.
“Aww, looks like I won’t be eating your share after all.” Elizabeth complained as she handed the boys each a bowl of stew.
“This is really good! What is it?” Damian asked his sister, reaching for another bowl.
“Possum stew, we found a few of them in the trees.” She replied casually.
Damian made a face as Mikaela finished his bowl happily as if it was the most common dinner in the world. Everyone was laughing around the campfire, telling stories and just in general being goofy.
“I’m gay, daba di daba die! Daba di daba die!” Mikaela started singing randomly, leaning over to kiss Damian’s cheek.
“I do hope you mean we.” Damian smiled, blushing in the firelight.
“Aww, lovebird virgins!” Karen yelled from across the circle.
Damian blushed and proceeded to attack Karen with the sticks. Mikaela grabbed the demon as he ran past him, pulling the brunette to sit in his lap. Damian grumbled but leaned his head back against Mikaela’s neck, feeling himself grow tired.
“Oh no, you don’t!” Mikaela laughed, standing up with the demon.
Mikaela grabbed Damian’s hand, and put the other one around his waist. Damian’s other hand rested on his shoulder. They began to waltz around the fire. Elizabeth smiled, stood, and grabbed Karen by the hand and began to mimic them.
“Oh no! I plan to marry a hot guy in the near future, not you.” Karen hissed as she tried to pull away from the angel.
“You can still dance with me though, can’t you?” Elizabeth giggled, twirling Karen under her arm.
“I suppose you are cute…” Karen admitted as she allowed herself to dance with the angel.
Damian watched his sister, feeling proud that she was finally feeling the lesbian vibes.
The group danced almost till midnight and then grudgingly went to sleep, Damian and Mikaela slept in one tent and Elizabeth and Karen in the other. The lich didn’t need to sleep, as she wasn’t alive, so they always had someone on guard. The rest of the night passed without any incident.
“Mikaela, Mikaela, wake up!” Damian shook Mikaela, who was still groggy from being woken up so early.
“What’s the rush? It’s not even dawn yet.” The elf complained.
“I want to splash Elizabeth and Karen with water.”
“And you need me why?”
“Because, if I succeed I want to make out with you afterward,” Damian said, blushing.
“Well, what are we waiting for?” Mikaela smiled, jumping up to find a bucket.
When they finally found one there was a hole in the bottom.
“There’s a hole in my bucket, dear Mikaela, dear Mikaela.” Damian sang as he used his magic to mend the hole in the bottom.
They stealthily moved towards the girls tent. Damian gained a devilish smile upon seeing the two girls cuddling, Elizabeth’s feathered wings drawn over Karen’s sleeping form so that only her face was visible. He turned to Mikaela and threw the water on them. The girls screamed as the water got poured on them.
“Oh my Dad, did you really pour water on me?” Elizabeth yelled, sitting bolt upright.
“Damian. I. Am. Going. To. Kill. You.” Karen snarled, water dripping from her hair.
“Lay a hand on him and I will make sure you don’t have one anymore.” Mikaela threatened.
“I’m sure we can diffuse this situation.” Damian put in.
“How would you like it if you were sleeping and someone poured water on you?” Elizabeth snapped.
“It would be okay... If Mikaela was with me.” Damian blushed thinking a lustful thought.
Karen looked at Elizabeth smiled and conjured a bucket of water. They threw the bucket on the boys. They started blushing while looking at each other soaking wet.
“I can tell where this is going to go, so please leave.” Karen said in an exasperated tone.
“Fine. If we have too, though, I might not be able to keep my hands off him.” Mikaela picked up his boyfriend.
“You flatter me,” Damian exclaimed with a sarcastic tone.
“Well, I should because I love you.”
Mikaela walked back into their tent and dried themselves off, using magic to close up the tent. Once there, they cuddled and read a book together. Then they went to sleep. Damian couldn’t sleep, as he kept getting shaken by Mikaela while he slept.
“Is he having a nightmare? I wonder what he’s dreaming of?” Damian whispered to himself.
Damian waved his hand over his boyfriend and sprinkled some dust. He entered a trance as he entered Mikaela’s mind. As he opened his eyes, he saw Mikaela tied to a chair with Asher standing over him, kissing him.
“NON! ÉLOIGNEZ-VOUS DE LUI!” Damian screamed, running towards Asher with a spear in hand.
“Oh, the slut’s here.” Mikaela said after Asher stopped kissing him.
“No Mikaela, I know that's not you.” Damian spoke with tears streaking down his face.
“But it is, it’s the real me,” Mikaela spoke with such conviction it made Damian’s heart, or lack of one, bleed.
“A-Asher, let him go. You’ve punished me enough.” Damian stuttered while looking at the man who had been the bane of his existence for thousands of years.
Damian then remembered that it was a dream, all he had to do was leave the dream, wake Mikaela up, and talk to him there. The demon knew that in Mikaela’s mind, he probably didn’t have any control over what he said or did. The demon conjured a bucket of water above his head. The chill of the water brought him out of the dream and back into reality. He conjured another bucket and dumped its contents on Mikaela.
Mikaela’s eyelids opened slowly and he woke up.
“M-my love?” Mikaela had tears in the corners of his eyes.
“I-I’m here.” Damian’s voice was raspy as if he had been crying.
Mikaela lunged upward, wrapping his arms around the smaller, allowing tears to seep into his clothes. The demon wrapped his black wings around the other, capturing the prince in a blanket of warmth and comfort.
“I love you, Mikaela.”
“I love you, too, Damian.”
“I’m sorry! I had no control.” Mikaela cried, desperately trying to receive his boyfriend’s forgiveness.
“Hey, shhh. I’m here, mon seigneur.” Damian flirted while trying to comfort at the same time.
“What?”
“Sorry, I meant my lord.”
“Your lord?” Mikaela chuckled, drying his tears and trying to hide his blush.
“I mean you are a demon lord, I thought it was fitting. Or do you prefer to be called Kaela?” Damian smiled, running his fingers through Mikaela’s hair.
“If you call me Kaela, then what shall I call you?” Mikaela asked, sleepily.
“Call me your love.” Damian murmured softly.
“Okay,” Mikaela sighed softly, “My love~”
“It was awful not being in control for five minutes. I don’t know how you could
have cared for the person who did something so awful to you.” Mikaela said.
“I can’t really explain why I forgave him after everything.” Damian said, “I’m sorry for everything you have been put through.”
After a moment of silence and cuddles, the two began to feel restless, needing something to do in order to chase away the dream.
“Kaela, can we read please?”
“Of course, my love, what do you want to read?”
“Grandpa gave me a book around eight million years ago. I want to read it.”
“I forget that you’re so much older than me.” Mikaela smiled.
“Not really. In mortal years I’m a year or two younger than you.”
Mikaela bent down and kissed the demon’s forehead as Damian grabbed an ancient book from his bag.
“It is about the Infernal Hierarchy.” Damian explained.
“Is your entire family like your dads?” Mikaela questioned.
“Not really. Grandma and Grandpa are nearly impossible to describe. It is kind of like trying to describe the air or the ocean.”
“They sound interesting.” Mikaela said skeptically.
“Can we read now?” Damian asked, becoming impatient.
“Yes, my love.”
After about five minutes, Mikaela heard Damian say something; “You know, you looked better without an arm. Why don’t I improve your look for you?”
Mikaela heard Asher grunt in the other room.
“Goodbye, Ashy.” Damian cooed.
There was the sound of someone screaming and the sound of running footsteps down the hall. Damian burst through the doors, and threw his arms around Mikaela’s neck. Mikaela felt Damian work his magic as the handcuffs fell away. Mikaela sat up, having Damian crying profoundly while his arms were coiled around Mikaela’s neck.
Mikaela was slightly dumbfounded, why was the love of his life here, after just saying that he loved Asher. He was hesitant to hug the demon back, would he just be betrayed again? He loved Damian, of course, but he was afraid of the other. His trust had been shattered and the demon boy would have to work in order to gain it back.
“I’m sorry!” Damian cried, “It was the only way to protect you!”
Mikaela gently pushed the other away from him, standing while pulling up the other with his hand.
“Thanks… for saving me…” Mikaela said awkwardly, keeping a foot of space between them.
“Mikaela..?” Damian asked softly, lowering his head.
He hummed in response.
“A-are you, umm, are you mad at me?” Damian asked, tears forming in his eyes again. Mikaela stared at him dumbfounded.
“Of course I am mad at you!” Mikaela screamed, backing away from Damian, “that hurt; it hurt so much…” Damian closed to distance between them, pulling the taller into a hug.
“I-I just did what I thought would protect you…” Damian whispered, tucking his head under Mikaela’s chin.
The dark elf hugged the other back, “Did you mean all those things you said? About me being a half-breed?”
“No! It hurt me to call you those things!” Damian insisted, pulling away to look the other in the eye.
“C-can you tell me that you l-love me?” Mikaela blushed as he asked this.
Damian smiled lovingly, “I love you. Always and forever.”
“I love you, too. Never do that to me again.” Mikaela murmured, kissing the other’s forehead.
“Never.” Damian agreed.
Mikaela pulled Damian’s face closer to his, their lips brushing against each other’s.
Mikaela pulled away at the last second, “This is your punishment for choosing to flirt with him.” Mikaela chuckled at the face his lover made.
“You’re no fun, Kaela.” Damian pouted, clinging to Mikaela with his arms wrapped around his neck.
The doors blew open to reveal Elizabeth, Karen, and the lich standing with powerful blasts of magic flowing around them. They all looked pissed.
“Where's my brother!” Elizabeth yelled, spotting the pair.
“Did we miss something?” Karen asked, lowering her magic.
“Yep.” Damian smiled, “Asher’s dead now. We can go home.”
Mikaela smiled, “I wish we could, but I have to find my brother. Damian are there any cells or prisons here?”
“Oh, he’s dead.” Damian said, lowering his head.
“What?” Mikaela cried, “Where? When?”
“Asher told me about it in a dream, telling me that he was going to kill more than Cain if I didn’t bring you here. I-I loved you so I didn’t want to see you in pain.”
Mikaela fell to the floor, “I promised to protect him… I told him he’d be safe with me…”
Damian wrapped his arms around the elf, nuzzling against his head.
“It’s not your fault.” Damian whispered, kissing his forehead.
“It is! I took him away from the second level, he should’ve been safe with me! And now… and now…” Mikaela whined, shivers running down his back.
Damian squeezed the other tighter, Elizabeth came over with Karen. Even the lich appeared concerned. Soon everyone was crouched around the mourning brother.
“What is everyone crying about?” A voice called.
Mikaela raised his head to see his brother standing by the wall, “It’s nice that none of you came to get me.”
“Cain!” Mikaela dashed over and hugged his brother, “I’m so sorry!”
“What is going on?” Cain threw a look at Damian and Elizabeth.
“Oh no, we are not going to forgive him after all he did.”
“Damian, he’s my brother.” Mikaela protested.
“He betrayed you.” Damian argued, throwing a glare at the younger brother.
“So did you.” Mikaela said gently, trying to reason with the demon.
“Why would you say that?” Damian asked innocently.
“You literally captured me and the girls.” Mikaela said, trying his best not to snap at the brunette.
“I did it in order to kill Asher.” Damian insisted.
“It still hurts.” Mikaela muttered.
“I’m sorry, but Cain tried to kill you. I don’t want you to get hurt.” Damian snapped, using magic to pull the two brothers apart, “I think you should kill him.”
He moved his hand and chains appeared on Cain, who instantly began to strain against the chains.
Damian walked towards Mikaela with a sword in hand.
“This is the sword Heartstopper, if you touch it’s blade to his skin it will instantly kill him.”
“Damian, No.” Mikaela begged.
“Please.” Damian asked.
“He’s my brother.”
“He tried to kill you.”
“Fine, but you owe me one.” Mikaela sighed.
“I love you.” Damian pecked his lips quickly.
Mikaela grabbed the sword from the demon, he moved towards Cain and plunged the sword into his brother.
Damian turned away from the group and tried to go up the stairs when Mikaela called out to him.
“Are you leaving?”
“I’m going to my old room. You can come if you need to.” Damian offered, not meeting the elf’s eyes.
“Are you okay?” Mikaela asked gently.
“I’m fine, I just...besoin d'espace” Damian trailed off.
The taller boy walked over to the brunette and pulled him into a hug, kissing the top of Damian’s head. The demon visibly relaxed, he missed this and felt immense guilt for hurting his beloved over Asher.
“Do you think you’re ready to go back?” Mikaela asked, breaking the silence.
“I am.” Damian promised.
The two headed up the stairs towards a room. The door had bloodstains on it. The inside of the room was relatively small, most of the room was taken up by a four post bed. Damian moved over to one of the drawers and pulled a knife from the drawer. He began to cut his wrist, blood dripped onto the floor. Mikaela rushed to grab the knife out of his boyfriend's hand.
“Damian, what are you doing?” Mikaela asked, throwing the knife into the wall.
“I-It helps relieve the pain…” Damian whispered, Mikaela wasn’t even sure if he heard him correctly.
Mikaela grabbed his boyfriend’s arm and pulled up his sleeve. Dozens of clean cuts criss-crossed each other. Some were white from having scarred, others were scabbed over, and a couple were still leaking blood.
Mikaela pulled the demon over to the bed, sitting down with the brunette.
“How long?” Mikaela asked sternly.
“A while…” Damian admitted.
Mikaela sighed and Leaned his head down to kiss the newest cut. Damian blushed as Mikaela repeated the gesture for every cut along his arm.
“M-Mikaela?” Damian stuttered as the elf pulled his head away.
He hummed in response.
“W-what was that?”
“I don’t want you to hurt anymore, okay? Never hurt yourself again.”
“Some of them were from Asher, and I thought it felt good so I continued it…” Damian whispered softly.
Anger boiled in Mikaela’s blood, he wanted to kill the devil himself. However, Damian already had killed him.
The white haired male pulled Damian to his chest protectively.
“I’ll protect you.” Mikaela swore.
Damian smiled and kissed the other passionately, he missed being able to do this with Mikaela rather than Asher. The demon thought that what Asher was showing him was love but instead it wasn’t, Damian could almost think of a word for what it was. But Mikaela beat him to it.
“I’ll love you. Asher was abusing you, I’ll never do that to you.” Mikaela promsed, pulling away from the kiss.
“But what if I want to be treated like that?” Damian whispered so softly that Mikaela almost didn’t hear.
Almost.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.” Mikaela said as tears began to form in the corners of his red eyes.
“Why would you be sorry?” Damian asked, using a hand to wipe the tears from his eyes.
“I’m sorry that he made you think this way.” Mikaela kissed Damian’s forehead.
“When did you meet Asher?” Mikaela asked.
“It’s hard to say. It would be easier to show you.” Damian replied.
Damian moved his hand and the mirror in the room shimmered and showed a scene from heaven. It showed Elizabeth talking with a short angel with dark brown hair.
