It’s Okay Not To Be Okay
It's okay not to be okay,
It's okay to feel down,
feel sad,
maybe even feel like the world in crumbling around you,
like if everything will be dust in a matter of seconds,
one second,
two,
maybe three.
But,
Please,
don't lie about how you feel,
don't give me a feeble,
weak,
broken,
see-through smile,
saying it's all fine,
couldn't be better,
A-okay.
Don't lie with a broken smile,
and positive words about how you are.
Don't smile,
when your sanity is snapping,
and your tears are building up,
don't smile...
don't smile,
when your heart is cracking.
It's Okay
Not
To Be
Okay.

It’s okay not to be okay
I look at where you used to lie
The pillow’s fluffed and still
I touch the shirt you used to wear
That silly stain’s still there
I smell the very scent of you right there in your favorite chair
It’s faded but still there, you see, where you used to be
Right there, right next to me
I can’t recall a time when it was only me, not us
And now all I have are memories of us two
And people tell me time will heal
Yet those words they are not a remedy for,
The pain I feel just paralyzes me
I wished they’d simply get the hint
It’s absolutely ok to say you’re simply not ok
To hurt is just a part of life
It tunes the heart and makes it beat
A different sort of sound or beat
The tears you cry go in a book
And so the story can always go on
With tattered pages, the lines will be told
Of a love that ended way too soon
But as I look at where you used to be
I hold onto the pain some more
Because I recognize it’s absolutely ok to say, today I’m still just not ok
Okay?
Let's not be
okay with Okay!
Frankly,
I shudder
when people say:
"Blah, blah, blah, Okay?"
or smother sincere
"How are you's,"
in bland, "Okay's."
People might run
hot or cold, maybe
even, just lukewarm,
Why stuff
the silence
with ambilivence,
rather than say,
in what way...
are you Okay?
