WRONG.
Things I spell wrong every time:
college (colledge): I don’t even know why. I KNOW how to spell college right. I just... don’t?
quiet/quite: again, I know the difference, but I always spell them wrong. I switch them up. No idea why.
Gray/grey: Okay, so I actually looked this up. Both versions are correct, but grey is generally used in the U.K. and gray is generally used in the U.S. I’ll use both of them in a given piece of editing because I can’t decide which one I should use. I like grey better but I live in the U.S. so I should be using gray... That’s just me I guess. I do the same thing with color (I always spell it with a U).
shield/field: Basically anything with the ie/ei rule in it, I always get confused. Because we english people are like “OH, I before E except after C,” and then I’m like... but... but science?
Words are confusing.
Oh yeah, and for some reason I've started writing "asleep" as "alseep" and I don't know why that's happening, either. Fun times :)
Things my friends spell wrong:
I only have one for this. One of my friends always spells “weird” as “wired.” And so they would always say “You’re wired” and I’d be like... uh... I’m not on drugs? I don’t think?
And then I’d realize what they were trying to say and I’d sorta facepalm while glaring at my phone.
Random Words you Spell Wrong
Well, you're there for most of them. "Bakset" is one of them. Yes I know how to properly spell "Basket" but I don't. It's not on purpose, but every single time, I have to fix it.
Another one it "Wait(o/e)r." This time it's not on purpose, either, but I spell it differently every time. I don't know why it happens, but it is what it is I guess.
"Fucking." I always Funcking spell it like "Funcking" and I usally catch it, but not always.
Literally anything with "Ou." As a lot of people know, I write "Colour" instead of "Color," but I don't always do either of those. Sometimes its "Coulor" or "Coulour." Me and an old friend used to put "ou" in place of "o." For example, "Ouounga bouounga." Oonga Boonga isn't a great example, but it's fun, so who cares?
"Dictionary." Ironic. "Dictionairy" is unfortunately incorrect, and I'd be kicked out of any spelling bee instantly.
That's all the mistakes I know of in english, but if we wanna talk about spanish, I could write a book about the mistakes there. Like, did you know Pero and Perro are two different words? I'll be talking about how much I love my dog, but people will go "I'm sorry? You love your but?" and it'll take me forever to realise my mistake. Measure twice, cut once.
Take care,
Winter.
I cannot spell
Decision
Describe
Tomorrow
Psychological
“Desision” is not how the English language says to spell “decision”, yet that seems to be the way I spell it first... autocorrect saves my butt on this one all the time.
“Discribe” is another one I just can’t spell correctly. I know it’s spelled describe, but when I write, I always forget: Is it an ‘e’? Is it an ‘i’?
Oooh but one of my worst enemies is “tomorrow”... I know that either ‘m’ or ‘r’ is a double letter, but while writing, I can NEVER remember which one it is.
The next word, psychological, is hit or miss whether I spell it wrong or not. I usually end up forgetting the ‘h’ or putting it in the wrong place... I just love adding random letters everywhere.
English Fucking Sucks
So, being my dumbass, I spell a lot of shit wrong. Could I remeber all of it? No.
Exception/Except: Anything that has a like... “XC” in it. I always end up spelling it with an “S” instead of a “C” ’cause that’s how I hear the word.
Because: I think it might just be becuase of the way I type, but some how I always end up spelling it “Becuaes” or “Becuase”.
Gray/Grey: WHY THE FUCK IS IT SPELLED TWO WAYS?!?!
And then that’s all I can remeber at the moment. Devon, Winter, Lime, if you guys can think of any words I spell wrong constantly... please tell me. I know there’s a lot ==”
May Add More Based On Later Performance
Maybe - (Mabye)
Business - (Buisness)
Definitely -(Definitly/Defenitely)
Rouge/Rogue - (I always spell the other one of what I mean.)
Words that have EXC - (I always say EXEC before realizing my mistake.)
Words with EI - (I often say IE.)
Words with AL - (I throw in an extra L)
And yet somehow without fail,
I can spell supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
Without messing up.
Ever.
Separate
It is nearly impossible for me to mispell the word “separate.” When I was in 4 grade, we had a school-wide spelling bee. I was a very competitive child, and took feats of skill and strength much too seriously. If there was someone who was the best, I had to be better.
I stood before the class and was one of the last five students in our class competition. Whoever won a class competition would move forward to the school competition to represent their grade.
Five students.
Four.
Top three. I knew if I could just keep it together for a few more words, I would win. But the other students were just as capable as me. We actually went several rounds with no result and the other kids were looking bored. But I was cold-steel focused.
“Jenni, your word is ‘separate.’”
I threw my shoulders back and announced without hesitation, “Separate. S-e-p-e-r-a-t-e. Separate."
Ding! "That is not correct. Take your seat." I remember just standing there. "Jenni? I said that was wrong. Take your seat." I was speechless as I robotically returned to my chair. I heard a group of people giggling at me. I know now that they most likely weren't, but my 11 year old brain was furious. I hated everyone of my classmates and wanted to throw things at my teacher. How dare they say I was wrong! I studied harder than anyone! I was the smartest student! I was my teacher's favorite student, yet she betrayed me! I thought of revenge. I thought of sabotaging the competition. I thought of psyching out the other students to make them quit.
No. I only glared angrily down at my study guide for the competition where there was the infamous word drilled itself into my head as I held back tears.
Separate.
Separate.
Separate.
Separate.
