A man from the East Coast goes to visit his estranged wife and their children for Christmas. She moved out to California for a job opportunity and he refused to leave the city that he called home. She’s had flirtations with another man, a corporate hotshot, but she still has a family photo with her husband on his desk, and the kids love him to pieces. When he arrives at the airport, he has a huge stuffed bear to give the children, whom he has missed dearly. He plans to meet up with his wife at her high-powered corporate office for a talk, then go see the children with her, then leave to stay elsewhere. That was the plan, at least. Moved by the spirit of Christmas and her still-burning torch for their marriage, however, she invites him to stay at the house with her and the kids. She admits she missed him.

It can’t be too easy for him though, so he observes the West Coast hotshot flirting with her wife. To make things more complicated, the husband realizes she started using her maiden name again. They fight about that, and they rehash past fights, thus reminding them (and the viewers) why their marriage fell apart all those months ago.

But then comes a crisis. I’m still working on the details of what crisis arises, but the corporate hotshot guy she’d been flirting with turns out to be a total flake. The rock-solid man she really loved all along comes through and saves the day; they are fully reunited with a rekindled love. They kiss and drive away to go see their children together and have a wonderful family Christmas while “Let It Snow” plays and the credits and their car tires roll.

You know, a terrorist attack might just be the perfect crisis. I’m thinking, say, Alan Rickman as the terrorist leader? He could be a German. Oh, and Bruce Willis for the hero. Guy’s got a heart of gold.

He planted a seed today.

A touch of hands, accidental-like. Hers pulling away, slightly,

he seemingly intent on his notes, the sun, and the soil.

A curious, inspecting glance found his hand still there,

resting easy on the fence rail where they’d touched.

Had the touch been intentional?

She couldn’t know,

but he’d sown the seed.

He would give that seed some room to grow,

give the idea time to germinate.

He would let it lie awhile in the rich loam,

and tomorrow sprinkle it with attention.

Female Protagonist works at a successful company in a huge city. She has an equally successful boyfriend who is on the verge of proposing marriage. She gets called away to the small town she escaped from years before because her parents die in a tragic accident. Everyone is town is cold towards her except her high school flame who for some reason never left the small town he grew up in. As she tries to sell the family house which has been in the family for generations, she learns that there is an evil development company buying up all the land. The plan is to turn the town into a luxury resort. As the movie progresses she turns from a heartless witch into a kind caring compassionate person who manages to save the town and everyone ends up adoring her. She rejects her successful boyfriends proposal and instead goes back to her heartthrob from high school who never quite got over her all those years ago even though with his rugged good looks he could have had any woman he wanted. This plot can easily incorporate Christmas time in the background for extra sappiness.

A boy loses his father on Christmas day. The father is hurrying home after work to be with his family when his car hits a patch of black ice and he is the victim of a tragic accident.

Flash forward to the present day in December, and the fatherless oy is now a man in his late 30s. His wife has divorced him, leaving him with a small child to raise. He associates Christmas with his father's death, and so hates any mention of the holiday. This was a point of contention between he and his ex wife, and we're led to believe that this one of the reasons they split.

Meanwhile, the man has moved to a new town in middle America to start fresh. He doesn't realize it at the time, but this town LOVES Christmas. He enrolls his child in the local elementary school there, and on the very first day of class, his child proceeds to tell all of the other kids that Santa doesn't exist. The child undoubtedly picked this up from their Christmas-hating father.

The teacher (a good-looking but approachable woman in her late 20s or early 30s), overhears this and confronts the father when he comes to pick his child up. You see, the teacher LOVES Christmas, and she is determined to help this man learn to open up again and embrace the holiday season.

Perhaps, if they're both lucky, he might even end up embracing more than just the holiday season...

26-year-old dream reporter, living in New York City in a small one-bedroom apartment. Jane is her name, Jane quits her not-so-good job with a horrible boss and has a really tough time finding a new job. Especially since it's the Christmas season, so when she lands a reporting job to go and find out information about the Governors son Patrick. She is thrilled by this assignment, she thinks if she can get her hands on some good information she will finally accomplish her dream. Except, Jane finds her way into there beautiful NYC penthouse and catches Patrick at a bad time. Patrick needs her help. He thinks he can trust her to help with his secret plan which is getting out of becoming Co-CEO of his fathers company. Patrick's father is on the strict side, he wants Patrick to settle down, have a steady job but instead 27 year old Patrick just wants to have fun. All the New York magazines know Patrick as some kind of playboy but is he really just that? Patrick wants to fake date Jane to show his father he is capable of being who his father wants him to be... But the problem is that Jane starts to fall for Patrick but does he start to fall for her? Patrick and Jane are opposites, to say the least, she's not spontaneous, he is. She likes order, he likes freedom. But somehow they fit perfectly together. Does her career matter more to Jane than finding love with New Yorker Patrick?

Stop saying this will be all ok.

The sorrow you felt when you knew love was lost and wouldn't reappear.

Chuckle as I shake my head.

Holly, a normal, down-to-earth, attractive woman in her 20s is looking for love when a mysterious (and also very attractive) man shows up at her door with amnesia. After some hesitation, she takes him in and tries to help him remember who he once was. We discover he is especially talented at some things, like working with animals and carpentry, but needs some help with others, like cooking and driving. Crazy and comical scenarios ensue involving adorable misunderstandings and genuine mistakes until Holly falls in love with this mysterious stranger, whom she calls Eric. However, on Christmas Eve, they are visited by a strange man with pointy ears who tells them that Eric, whose real name is Phineas, is Santa Claus' son and he must return to the North Pole to help his father deliver the presents that year. Deep down, they both know this is true, and a tearful and reluctant goodbye happens. On Christmas morning, though, Holly awakens to find a special present underneath her tree and we fade to black over her staring up into the sky.

Flashbacks can be a great story element. My Hallmark starts when the protagonist is reflecting on her childhood. She was so happy. Her favorite moment was of her and her Dad watching cheesy movies twice a week together, popcorn in hand.

Although her mom died, the focus is not on loss; but, the strength of the father-daughter relationship.

She grows up with a love of writing, which turns into a career of screen-writing that takes her to the city.

Life, business seemed to be a barrier of love and relationships. So, she decides to move home, in December during the town’s worse snowstorm, to make her dream come true-write a screenplay of her life. To do this, she combs through old movies of her mom, dad and small town and puts it on the big screen!…There is a love triangle-Hallmark style.
