The Difference is in the Absence
The day I spend without you. Light shines upon the empty space beside me. The Sun, the clouds, the sky, all are present, but I can't help but notice what isn't. You aren't with me in the day time. Warm weather can not replace the the touch of your skin. Sounds of nature can not replace the beauty of your voice. The day I spend alone.
The night I spend with you. Darkness envelopes me, as do the thoughts of you. Nighttime brings dreams of us together. Again, I can feel your touch, your warmth, your presence. Once more I can hear your voice. The night has no need of replacing you, because your place beside me is no longer empty. The night we spend together.
You ask the difference between day and night, I tell you this. The difference is in the absence.
Black and White
day is time for daytime things
work and the reward it brings
business ticks and tocks by day
workers work to earn their pay
to the daytime things we cling
day is time for daytime things
but when day has had his day
nighttime creeps to have his say
light your candles and your lamps
wrap yourself against the damp
lock your doors and go to bed
nighttime things will surely tread
sleep until the morning sun
because your new day has begun
to our blankets do we cling
night is time for nighttime things
this is how our days and nights
never clash and never fight
night will always follow day
simply do things go that way
The difference between Death and Life.
On a rock they call a planet, that is rotating around stars, the inhabitants deemed a brighter phase "day" and the darker one "night". This isn't necessarily the grandest of differences, so let me explain : During the day you have the individuals who are dead or dying punching a clock to earn money and looking miserable during the act, and during the night you have the life, the energy, and individuals who are looking to find more to life, in others.
Truly an interesting twist on the way things should be, where you'd anticipate the day producing high energy individuals who have found a love for life and a reason to share it are placed in the darkness, and the darkness should be an item where the rest and recovery would be explored by the individuals is given to those that walk in blinding rays of light. How is this possible? I'm not sure, I always seem to have far too much energy regardless of the time of day, today being exception as I actually took rest (Perhaps the volcano eruption of South America required my energy). That's how I would differentiate the two states of a day here on Mother Earth. Our inhabitants would rather live when they should rest ( and are free of judgment) and would rather be resting when life is going on. Not sure that I can explain the need to be this way and I'm not sure that an explanation would do it justice. Other than Day-Dreaming and Night-Life.
The difference between day and night
Is that I am me and you are you
We are separate
But together we make a whole
I am the night
That chases after the day
But is always just out of reach
From mornings glory
You are the sun
And I am the moon among stars
Separate, we are seen as beautiful
But together, I am not seen
Instead I get in the way of your brilliance
This moon longs to be as bright as the sun
But deep down he knows he can never shine that bright
Because he just wasn't made that way
While the sun is frothing with heated plasma
The moon is covered in dull, grey craters
The light keeps me company. It distracts my mind from the shadows that dwell within me. Light is my shield against the hallucinations of the dark. Yet there are only so many hours of precious sun.
When the sun sinks below the horizon, the demons awaken. Insomnia creeps upon me, leaving my broken skull filled with nightmares.
Lies are told and truths are shown
The day is a time where everyone is happy
Families get along
Friends are closer than ever
Life is good
Day is when everyone seems
Happy
Joyful
Full of life
But when night comes around everything changes
Night is when everyone is behind closed doors
Truths come out
Families share their anger
Love disappears
Hatred within friends appear
Worst of all
Night is when everyone is at their most vulnerable
It's is when those cry and are not heard or seen
That there is the difference between night and day.
the difference
the difference between day and night
can be as striking as oil and water
the ocean and the sky
the trees and the earth
red and blue
the cover of a book and the pages of a book
but there will always be a little bit of day in the night time
in the porch lights on the small little houses
in the city lights that twinkle and turn
in the stars that blink
and the planets that turn in the distance
the night will always insist on being present in the day as well
in the dark alleys
underneath the stairwells
in the eyes of a soul who will never be happy
in the shadow of the tall, tall buildings
they will always mix and swirl together though
in the dawn and the dusk
where the sky meets the ocean
where my heart meets yours
The love for light is trumped by night.
Few understand the difference between night and day excluding the light.
But I do.
Night is dangerous.
Or so we think.
Day is safe.
Or so we know.
Night is our dreamscape; the time we have where everything is possible.
Or so we think.
Day is our true dreamscape; for everything we do in the day represents what we try to do in the night.
sunrise always works after a lifetime of sleeping in the shadows
breakfast seldom helps take away the hunger that awoke you in the first place
afternoon is when you take a walk and meet at the market making small talk
night time is the worst, she pulls you in and leaves you in the shadows.
"the pain now is part of the happiness then".
