Love Sighs (one syllable word poem)
Love sighs from my tongue
flames from my lips
scraps of my soul
sweep your skin.
Are those your eyes
or mine that I kiss,
orbs from blue to green?
One last leap
where few dare to go
I glide through my fears,
Know I built
my own cage,
jail of my pith
lock and key.
My truth rings out
bars are rent
time bends,
bones of leaves
dust of my flesh.
I lie back
in silk bed sheets.
You touch me
with soft heart.
Singularity*
To pen a rune of cool, hip verse,
May at first seem like one hell of a curse.
I must choose words with just one click,
But I don’t know which ones to pick.
They have to make sense and ought to rhyme,
With beats that lilt and fall in time.
I read my terms that formed my ode,
And was in awe how well they flowed.
Hey, look at this, I did, in fact, thrive,
Here’s my hand for you to high five.
(*I broke the rule only for my title.)
The Sea Calls, The Sea Cools
The grains burn my soles as I walk
I hear a voice call me, I hear a voice talk
Heat seers through me, but I have lost all care
As I walk in this land with no air
I stop, my skin lit by the flames of guilt
And think of all the grief I have built
I look out to see the gallop of blue
And I know what I must do
Hooves crash and thrash and spit white foam
But I move in close to this place I shall soon call home
They grasp my feet in a tight wet hold
I let them pull me down and sink in their cold
They kiss my cheeks and fill my throat, but I do not cry
I just let my limbs fall free and close my eyes
Ying and yang
As sure as day
As uncertain as night
I can't say I've seen you in good light
And so if you may and so if you might
Come and make things with you and I right
I see that you hide
I know that you run
Be brave and come
I won't tell the sun
In dim light you thrive
In bright light you'll die
I don't mean to pry
but you live a lie
I know that love is hurt
I know that love is pain
I know there's no sun
Without a bit of rain
But i can't stay
I don't know what it's like
To live in the dark
And see no light
I love you, I do but we can't be
For you are ying and I am yang
And you are you and I am me
Hope to last
The sun rose in our sight
As your arms held me tight
Warmth filled our souls to glow
This love we have I won't let go
You sooth the fears that hide in mind
And heal the heart that aches with time
With you peace I'm glad to find
May time be kind and let it last
For like the sun life is gone all to fast.
touch the air and soul
There was a bird
Who had no soul
But flew with those
Who did
He longed to be
Like the rest
But he was damned
And knew it true
Yet he still flew
Side by side
Like birds do
To sing a song
The song would float
Through the air
To touch the ears
Of all that were near
They all heard the
Sad Sad notes
That fell from the bird
Who had no soul
Sprouting Rainbows
I watched blue fade to grey
Hair blown by the wind,
Skin turned ice cold
Fear took flight,
As the skies tore, peace fell down
For I may not how to let go
Of grudge, pain and lies
The sky can only wrench my grip
Off it all, through change
Drops merged to morph dirt
Washed the dread, gave birth
Hope bloomed fresh,
From the only mud I knew
To be true.
