Monster
When anyone wishes on a star, a fairy is notified and is now responsible for making sure your wish comes true. Your father left when you were only five years old. Your only memory of him is the two of you sitting in a big, open field one night and him pointing out to you which star is the North Star. Every night, you wish on the North Star for him to come back. You know there has to be a reason he left. It can’t be because he didn’t love you. You know he did. There has to be something else. You are now twenty years old and have never stopped wishing. You have never missed even one night. You now live in a big city where it is hard to pick out the stars, but you still manage to. You know he will come back someday.
I am your fairy. I have tried for fifteen years to bring your father back to you, but it seems he has done a very good job of covering his tracks. Your mother tells you he left because he couldn’t handle being a parent. You have faith that your dad loves you and always has. I hope you’re right. After all these years of searching, I finally have a lead. It turns out that a friend of mine was assigned to your dad before he went missing. His wish was the same every night: “If she kills me, let my child be safe.” When he went missing, my friend was there. Tonight, he solemnly leads me towards a hospital bed. Tears fill my eyes as his face slowly comes into view.
“He’s in a coma. Has been for fifteen years. The doctors don’t know who he is or what happened. I kind of wish I didn’t.”
“What happened?” I ask, afraid of the answer.
“His wife…”
Everything makes sense. My eyes widen as I put the pieces together.
I see movement from inside the room. “What are they doing?” I ask.
My friend doesn’t make eye contact with me. “Tonight was his last night.”
A small gasp escapes as I watch this innocent man with a child who loves him and never gave up on him take his final breath.
Some wishes don’t come true, even when you believe in them with all your heart. My assignment is over, but not completed. You will never see your dad again, and someday, you will begin to believe the lies your mom has forced into your head. You will never know how much your dad loves you. You will never know that the parent that stayed is a monster. And there’s nothing I can do about it.
A Gruesome Bite (Part 4)
Deera and The Flame Wolf lunged at each other but, the Flame Wolf scratched Deera's cheek. Deera screeched and the Flame Wolf yelped and held his ears down. She stopped and looked down upon The Flame Wolf and growled, "Get up, you weak wolf. I will always conquer you!!" The Flame Wolf got up and started barking and chirping. With that call, bright red flames surrounded The Flame Wolf and Deera. She growled and "whipped" up the flames with her flame tip and burnt part of his fur and skin. He healed himself and his hair grew back pretty quickly. He started laughing as he stood back up. "What's so funny?" Deera asked confused. "Yepwell wishen notremad contestlamoree moreeha!! You will not conquer me!! " He growled in Draginucous Tongue. He howled and skeletons popped out of the ground. She took a deep breath and turned into her human form. The skeletons stopped and looked around confused. The Flame Wolf growled and looked for Deera. He then, felt a tap on his back. He turned his head to see who it was but, Deera punched him smack dab in the jaw which, knocked him down to the ground. The skeletons disappeared as he tried to stand up. "Leeda... Leeda areha yepwell thistle stroongree? How... How are you that strong? " The Flame Wolf asked in Draginucous Tongue while he sat up and fixed his jaw. "I told you, I would conquer you. Did you forget that I am a Black Draginucous in my human form?" Deera growled as she rubbed her bloody knuckles. "F... Fine. You have conquered me." The Flame Wolf whined as he bowed his head with respect. He howled and The Devil's hands grabbed Deera. She went through the ground, leaving no evidence that she was there. The Flame Wolf disappeared and appeared next to Deera, who was in the unbreakable chains.
The Flame Wolf changed into his Human Form and stared at Deera afterwords. "You stay here while I get the boss." He snapped at Deera as he walked out of the room. Deera screeched and heard Iris screech back. "Iris!! Where art thou?" Deera asked as she looked around. "In here, Ma!!" Iris exclaimed as she reached through a small window behind Deera. She turned around and started running toward Iris but, was stopped short by the chains that held her back. "No... No... NO!! Let me and Daru Daru go!!" Deera exclaimed. The Devil waled in and started laughing. "Why would I do that? I can keep you two down here until that... that... PUNY elf that you fell for years ago, fights and dies trying to save you two." He said with a nasty grin. "Tara will fight but, not to the death. He will be here in 3... 2... 1..." Deera said as she saw magic start swirling at the doorway. "Helldoora Flame!!" Tara yelled as he appeared at the doorway. "Tara, Hony Bunches of War!! Watch out for The Flame Wolf!!" Deera warned. Tara turned around quickly and shot magic at him but, he dodged it. Deera broke the chains by turning into her Black Draginucous Form. The Devil grabbed Iris from the other room and held his claws to her neck. "Tara!! Stop!! He's got Iris!!" Deera said as she turned into her human form again. Tara stopped fighting and looked at Deera, then at The Devil. "Do as I say or she gets... AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!" The Devil screamed as he was thrown across the room by Iris. She stood her stance as she looked toward The Devil. "No one messes with my family, and NO ONE THREATENS MY FAMILY!!!" Iris growled as she grabbed her gun that she found. She stood up from her stance but, fell to the floor. They dropped there stuff and ran over to Iris. Tara noticed she had a deep laceration on her left side. Tara picked Iris up and said, "Dear Heart, grab my staff and my book. We need to get Iris to a doctor and quick." Deera grabbed the Staff of Riles and the Book of Norawind. He teleported all three of them to the Over World. "Tara, take her to the doctor and I will put these away." Deera suggested. "No. I... No... Just follow me with them." Tara replied as he looked Iris and his blood stained shirt. So, they ran to the doctor that was three streets down.
"Dr. Horseshoes!! We have an emergency!!" Tara exclaimed as they barged in. "Who's the... Woah!! It's Iris!!" Dr. Horseshoes said surprised. "Please... Prease, help her. Prease, Preasha!!" Deera pleaded. "Bring her back here and set her on the bed. We'll see what we can do for this lady of honor." Dr. Horseshoes said calmly. Tara took to a bed and laid her down on it. "We'll be waiting for you when you wake." Tara said as a few nurses and Dr. Horseshoes took Iris to the Operation Room.
Will Iris make it or is it too late for her?
