Thou shalt not kill
War is killing, and killing is considered wrong by most, so how do we consistently, millennium after millennium, find ways to justify war to the masses who send their youth to kill and be killed?
Well, it allows a nation to demonstrate power and dominance. History shows that there is always a people or a nation that is more powerful, more dominant, than others. Thus, it’s natural to want your own to be the powerful one (or really good friends/allies with it), right? I mean, if someone is going to be strong and mighty, it should be us, right?
Historically, in addition to improving slumping national self-esteem and economies (where there are producers of the accoutrements of war), war permits the winner(s) to reap great rewards, such as more or better land (or independent control of/access to it), more or better resources (or the rights to capitalize on them) and even more believers for the one true religion...which of course varies depending on the winning side. Also, back in the day, you could acquire a free work force.
In recent centuries, war has been fought in support of ideas or ideologies…or so the story goes… But methinks realpolitik reigns supreme. Whatever the reasons given to justify the waging of war to a nation’s citizens (when justification is required), ultimately, it’s all about power – social, economic and/or political…millennium after millennium.
A chilling aspect of war for me is that over and over again, today’s enemies were yesterday’s friends and tomorrow they may be again. We sell our friends arms to kill their enemies, but then one day, our friends become our enemies and suddenly our soldiers - are being shot with the guns we sold the enemy...when we were friends…
What a tangled web of death and destruction we weave…
War
Most People Think That War Is When Two Countries Fight
When You Bring Out The Guns And Your Hatred Ignites
But A War Is So Much More Than That
It Can Happen In Your Heart, And In Your Mind
War Can Be A Battle Deep With In
A War Can Be The Demons Trying To Win
A War Can Be A Fight For Your Life
A War Can Be The Path To The Light
A War Is A Battle That You Have Fought
A Battle That Might Have Left Permanent Scars
A Battle That Might Do Your Loved Ones Harm
A War Might Not Always Be A National Thing
It Might Be At Home Or In The Streets
It Might Be Hidden Deep Inside
It Might Be Where The Darkness Hides
When You Think Of A War Remeber This...
Not Every War Takes Place On A Battlefield
Some Happen On Your Wrists
War Blood
War drenches the world in wet, salty tears.
War soaks the earth in hot, sticky blood.
War kills both people and animals.
It leaves houses ground into sinders.
Stress.
Worry.
Pain.
Soilders on all sides loose their minds.
And we wonder why we keep fighting.
The victors are always seen as good.
The losers are always seen as bad.
No matter how hard they try
or how much they believe themselves right,
they are seen as either one or the other.
Winner or loser?
Good or bad?
But like a forest fire,
flames help the forest grow stronger.
The heavy undergrowth that suffocates the trunks
can be perged to help new growth.
Like a forest fire,
humanity must sometimes be cleansed.
White has fled
It's raining bullets,
Flowing red.
Crimson and black,
We're all afraid.
Where words are lost,
With life in dark.
The river's scared
Of crossing the mark.
Kissing the ground
The grenades fall.
A piercing whistle-
That's my call.
Those little hands
Now covered in blood,
Will soon be drowned
In a big dead flood.
The fangs of death
Pierce parched skin.
We're losing them
Who didn't know sin.
All dreams are torn.
All eyes are dim.
To hide or breathe,
Chances are slim.
What's wrong and right,
Is not required.
With this war,
What's acquired?
Hope's hopeless,
A damaged core.
Do not pray
For an encore.
War?
What's in the word?
War.
World Anger without Retribution.
No matter how many fights you get into, is there any point to it all?
You'd be so much better off learning from them instead of screaming in their face.
Sure, they have issues too...But everyone is flawed.
Try to see another point of view.
For the arts hold no boundries, and our only borders are our Understanding.
WAR-NOT!
My thoughts on war should be as everyone's thoughts,
we don't need it to make a statement. We don't need to ruin someone to show
them we are on top. We don't need to name ourselves triumphant, because we
won a fight that shouldn't have never happened. Understanding is want we all
need to grow. A comfort of together and a trust for brotherly love. Everything
is not hostile and everything is not out to get you. Let's protect our country with
our neighbor. Let's protect each other with something we all were born with,
loyalty and grace. Let's trust that if another country come to fight, together we
will end the war triumphant. So to ask me about my thoughts on war, I will tell
you that WAR ONLY EXIST IF TWO OF SOMETHING COLIDE.
