empath’s dilemma
she's got tears welling
can’t look another in the eyes
for staring face to face at another's soul
holds a mirror to the faults in hers
yet she will keep going
she can't form words
so give her yours
tell her once more how strong she is
words she perceives as pity
words she cannot trust
yet she will keep going
support the best you know how
don't do anything irrational,
you're an empath.
work against internalizing this, too
distance yourself
if it triggers memories
that are too sharp to contain,
you're an empath.
you're an empath.
not to be used as an excuse
for buring yourself too early
Intermittently
There’s a boy sitting on the rings of Saturn
Just watching the world,
Intermittently
He marvels at his moons with such pride in his being
As they come and go and come again
Always, he calls out to Titan
Though his gestures, not reciprocated
And he’s torn, trying to decide which is more beautiful;
The moons he counts on to give him his minutes
Or the tiny dot in the distance
The one with godly colors
And just one lonely moon
There must be no boy on Earth
As there are no rings to hold him
So he decides he likes his moons
He chooses Titan
For he knows he’ll never let him down
Swinging round, passing,
Intermittently
peeler
forget the skins slipping down the drain
the fascination in my eyes
watching the red soul leak from my fingers
forget the peeler slipping through my own skin
forget the drip of our leaky faucet
the drip that matched with the tears,
the fearfulness in my eyes
as I silently pleaded
your silence in return
forget the power you held
over me and and the dollar store potato peeler
you have none of me
watch as I take it all
