Loss
When you are fifty feet deep in a hole that never recedes
And you know your not alone because your friend hugs your knees
You still feel cold and alone and sad
Because you know there is no staying forever
Even if it's your mother or your dad
Friendship is temporary
But love is a permanent thing
You will feel your heart explode
When she gets a boyfriend and then a new ring
You will feel left behind in the dust
Unsure if you can or if you must
Will any one care
If you die over here or even over there?
You grab the knife
Feel the sharp tip
Think of all the hard times throughout your short life
You bring it to your shaking wrist
Breathing heavily and hard
You puncure the skin
Feel the pain travel through your arm
You remember the times
When you sat in that hole
Fifty feet deep
There was really no where to go
At least you had her
Sharing all the good memories
You talked for hours
About all the dead flowers
She will miss you
No matter how far away you may be
She loved you
And love
Is an infinite
Throughout all eternity
A Flat World
Equality,
Why is it not a universal language?
Why not an unspoken token of love
Given to and by all?
Why is it not felt by everybody?
Why can't it be a way of living?
Passed down by generations for a new begining?
It's waiting to happen,
It's just not here yet,
So sad that today,
It is an abused concept.
Together we can win the day.
If everyone can just keep pace
Together, we can have an equal say.
Together,
As the human race.
New and Old
New to old
Old to new
The world wants new
The latest and greatest
Smaller and slimmer
We compete to be the best
The next big thing
When the best new thing is old
Old books and notes
Hiding secrets we want to know
All we have to do is open a book
Maybe an old one
Sit and read
Sorry, there is no touch screen
I do un holy things
But don't you dare call me a sinner
I'm one who loves
But don't you ever call me a lover
I'm one who takes
But don't you ever say I steal
I'm one who lies
But don't you ever call me a liar
I'm not skinny
But don't you ever call me fat
I don't have a Barbie doll complexion
But don't you call me ugly
I'm don't ace all my tests
But don't you think for a second I'm stupid
I can be mean
But you dare not say I'm a bully
I am who I say I am
You cannot label me
And you cannot say I'm something I am not
I am who I say I am
I am not who you think I am
I am who I know I am
That's a fact
Don’t be Afraid
Always look for something new
A challenge
No matter if you win or lose
Learning
Growing
No matter the cost
Try new things
Don't be afraid to get lost
Make something
Something beautiful
Something creative
Something that's you
Don't be afraid of anything new
If you are learning
You never lose
Nature
Growing out of every corner
Every nook and cranny
It's there, just look
Hidden in plain sight because you don't care to notice it
Its beneath your feet
Above your head
You never care to give it a smile
Not even a look.
Even though it waves in the wind trying to catch your eye
You never care to take a moment off your work
Off your gadgets and gizmos
Take a minute and look
You'll be amazed at what has been hiding in plane sight
Animals.
These animals, they know
They are here for a reason
We kick them and bite them
And kill them for some incomprehensible reason
They were put here by God
Or whatever did this all
They know more each day
We learn, we fall
We think we know some stuff about space
They've been there
Some live there
Some stay there on their vacay
We kill them, we fight them
For what reason? I don't care
We want some special piano?
Or maybe a beautiful brush to comb through our long, blond, stupid hair
We don't understand
They could fix all our problems
We just have to listen
Make and effort, that should be no problem
But we're greedy people
We won't stop at that
We want more and more
We need a special hand bag
So we find them
And fight them
And skin them too
We throw it on a conveyer belt
And soon it will get to you
We don't know their feelings
When we do these things
We should listen
And try
Just try coexisting!
Feel what it's like
If you can even comprehend
We need to have empathy
With all animals
Even a hen
Just remember,
They don't need us
Eat The Cake!!!
We look in the mirror, at least ten times a day
We see if we have changed, in every which way
We hope we grew taller, or shorter, or smaller
We hope we got skinner, or tighter, or longer
We don’t want the truth, even if it’s great
We morph it around, like it's block of clay
We see what we want, making up our own lies
It's usually worse then it really, to subside our doubting eyes
She stands by the mirror, sucking the little she has in
Seeing what she would look like, if only she was thin
She does it as a game, seeing how should would look
Soon it’s her life. She throws up the salad in the public bathroom toilet. She tries to be this new kind of pretty.
These Barbie dolls, surgery, and magazines too, they changed the game, for young girls just like me and you
We try to be them, but we know it’s not true
It’s physically impossible. I couldn’t do it, could you?
You are your own pretty. No need to suck in.
Don’t worry, you're not perfect. No one really is.We love you, your great. Don’t change a thing. Please be happy. Eat, cake isn't a sin.
