A Perfect Life
Is the only thing I cannot have. Everything else is available to me through words. If I want something, I give the same desire to a character and have them devise a way of obtaining it for themselves, though they don't always succeed. However, it seems as though no matter how much we gain, there's always something else we could have that would make our lives even better; what we are really pursuing is a perfect life. Unfortunately, this is impossible to find. It is a fool's errand to strive for it; the wise thing is to make the most of what we have and pursue our passions, surrounding ourselves with people we love. Though our lives won't be perfect, they will be full of purpose and meaning, and in this broken world, that is the best we can hope for.
Waiting for you
As we get older
the more things,
pets and people
we know or love
go to their graves
one by one
they leave us
like limbs dropping
from an old trunk
or
you will know
or love someone
who has things,
pets and people
going to their graves
one by one
until it comes
for us, too
until we become
a headshake over
a glass of beer.
Why Wait?
From the time we are born until the time we due, we are waiting on something.
We wait on everyone, everything, every place.
We wait for food. We wait for love. We wait for help. We wait for success. We wait for a sign.
We wait.
Sometimes the wait is long, sometimes it is short. But still, we wait.
We spend half of our lives just waiting. Time we will never he back. But still yet, we wait.
Why do we wait?
Because it is polite? Because it is necessary? Because we are forced to?
You lose time by waiting, precious time. And with the loss of that time, you lose time to do something productive or important.
Stop waiting. Start doing.
