jigsaw puzzle
our lives are like a jigsaw puzzle,
each piece playing an equal part,
there may be times of hopelessness and frustration
where the pieces begin to fall apart
sometimes the pieces go missing
and are either rediscovered or lost forever;
sometimes we end up with mismatched shapes
no matter how hard we try to fit them together.
although it may seem never-ending
like an infinite loop of nearing defeat,
the picture that unveils will leave you in awe
once the puzzle is finally complete.
simpler times.
i wish that i could go back to the days
when i was younger and carefree,
when i didn’t worry about judgement or grades
or what i wanted to grow up to be.
when i feared drowning, not drowning in fear
and played in gardens without dreading its destruction;
when i created wonderland for mere fun,
not an escape from the reality of violence and corruption.
when my worldview was veiled with innocence,
not having to desperately read between the lines,
when everything seemed perfectly in place;
oh, to relive such simpler times.
Justice Will Be Served.
we strive to protect our planet
and yet, our minds remain polluted.
within the systems designed for our protection,
are corruption and poison, deeply rooted.
religion, sexuality, gender, race
do not make us inferior to another;
where are our humanity and morals
when we discriminate based on skin color?
no longer shall we be silenced
as our voices demand to be heard,
the time has come to stand up and fight
to ensure that justice is served.
Broken.
I had written this for my first ever (online) poetry competiton, and although it is quite dark, it holds a very special place in my heart.
Is this what has become of me?
This state of mine, I could never foresee;
My heart shattered, my very existence inutile,
Cast into oblivion, by your words so brutal.
I could have never imagined,
That pure heart of yours, tainted and blackened;
Those fragile touches and pale soft lips,
Resulting in my very own apocalypse.
Your empty promises weigh down on me,
So unmerciful, that I’d rather bathe in the Lethe,
To have no trace of your wicked doing,
And to put an end to this eternal suffering.
To the devil himself I would sell my limbs,
My soul and my heart by plucking each heartstring;
Let the blood flow for him to preserve as a token,
As a reminder of the one who was once broken.
The Rising Tide.
our story had begun
upon meeting that fateful evening;
sea breeze and gritty sand
now hold a special meaning.
while cherishing the good times
you remained faithfully by my side,
like the grains that cling on to you
while you admire the rising tides.
as distress crashed down in waves,
i hopelessly searched for your face;
like the receding tides,
you disappeared without a trace.
A Tale Of Two Lovers.
you called yourself a poet
and played around with words,
amidst our thirst for creativity,
emerged a collision of our worlds.
our minds combined as one
and together wielded a pen,
our work enraptured millions,
changing lives, time and again.
and thus a new tale was born,
written by stars and not ink;
two writers fell in love,
fiction and reality now in sync.
Feathers.
she was frightened and restrained
like a bird trapped in a cage,
and every time she tried to escape
she was met with rage.
for these rules and norms
persistently tried to control her;
every time she rebelled,
she lost another feather.
every time she raised her wings,
words shot her back down;
when she had lost all hope,
her feathers rose from the ground.
her passion and strength
seeped through each one;
the feathers helped break her free
and she had finally won.
Embodiment of Light.
she was made of constellations
illuminating the sky,
depicting tales of strength and bravery,
and like Orion, held her head high.
she was a constant source of warmth
like luminous rays from the sun;
she possessed a halo made of celestial bodies,
and like the planets, around her they spun.
she was a lighthouse,
guiding lost souls back to reality;
she was the embodiment of light—
bright, powerful and free.

Fake Smile.
as the days went on and on
her smile turned faker and faker;
like the rope of faux pearls around her neck,
threatening to strangle and break her.
for those beads felt like a noose
strangling her and weighing her down;
her thoughts swam around her head
and in the hopelessness she drowned.
as the sea of darkness consumed her,
she frantically searched around;
as she waited for a beacon of light to save her,
she slowly disappeared without a sound.
Hearts’ Embrace.
when i feel your presence beside me,
my heart feels whole;
together we ignite a fire,
burning away until we reach our soul.
every fiber in our body,
is laced together like our fingers;
when my bed is empty and bare,
the scent of you still lingers.
and as i lay in your arms
and trace every feature of your face,
i feel the warmth radiating not off your body,
but from our hearts’ embrace.
