Purple Vistas
I believe I’ll never be alone
floating, dangling words
forming in my mind
transcribed into jewels
tribune of life
sandpapery on skin.
Opening purple vistas
to inputs and outputs
leaking from my pen
in dabs and splotches
changing course
scratching out thoughts
deciphering life.
Metamorphosing
through life storms
and emerging passions.
Striking out ideas
like heat lightning
growing phrase flowers
on deep earth soil.
Illuminating lives
heeding subconscious
fantasies taking flight
musing comes to light.
Words fill my essence
held dear as friends
cozy in mind pocket
eager to spring out.
I believe
I believe in hikes on a hot summer day and rope swings; Mushroom Rock and the ice cold waters of Rock Creek.
I believe in long days on the terrace; with sweet tea perspiring beneath my fingers.
The sound of the cicadas in the distance. I believe in the rains of Kentucky and The Palmetto trees of Carolina. The blue southern skies and lazy summer days.
I believe in sipping Woodford with my Daddy on the front porch steps. Holding hands with my love as she laughs. Wide eyed and beautiful on a cold rainy day.
I believe in Magic and old black and white films. I believe in the South. In my roots and butt glue sold at the corner market.
In Jayme Shaw and High Heels and flip flops in the sand.
I believe in the Grand Old Party and my wings; In Gowns and Crowns and rhinestones and sequins. I believe in Big Hair and Eyeliner. And my Grandmother's voice. In my Mama's arms and The Anglican Church.
I believe in honor and love and dignity. My beliefs define me. Mold me. I believe in me and my past; the mistakes that I've made and the patgs I have walked.
For Now, Forever
The lips that bloom with flowery forevers
Come with a heart of purest intent
And a mind that foolishly believes
The lies it tells itself
Don't promise me forever
We have no clue what tomorrow brings
Let's live for tonight, darling please
Let's treat it as if it's our last
Tangle your fingers in my hair
I'll trace my fingers down your spine
My legs locked around your waist
Bury yourself in my embrace
Kiss me with your forever lips
Let me taste your unjaded devotion
Lace your fingers, lock them with mine
Release everyone of your inhibitions
Allow the pleasure to take control
Look into my eyes, see that shine?
All the truths my tongue won't admit
Hold me, taste me, feel me, see me
This connection is more than flesh
It cuts deep, this connection is fleeting
None of us can promise Forever
The most we can promise is For Now
For Now, give me all the love inside you
I'll hold on tightly, as long as I can
Darling, For Now, you have all my love
I believe in being true to one another
That there is is truth in logic
I believe that we are all points of light and our love makes that light shine brighter.
I believe we are here to learn and then we go home.
Like boarding school. I don't like boarding school.
Those with sharp edges get filed down, those who are too soft learn to be tough.
I believe there is something so much greater than we are, that we strive to be that.
I believe in fairie tales, Fairie folk and the like
I believe that technology has corrupted in some ways life as we know it.
The ancients knew so much better, how to live, how to die how to love.
I believe in all of this.
I believe that you should never loose your childish innocence.
It is the most important thing.
magic
i believe in magic.
i believe that dewdrop pearls
on spider web necklaces
make the world go round;
and every ray of waking light
in between the stars tonight
blessed with night owls' song
brings dreams to sleepless souls
and hope to those whose
tears run like little streams
reflecting the morning,
born quiet from its cocoon
of purple darkness;
i believe in waking sleep
when light and shadow
play in between the curtains
at dawn, and coffee and
the painting on the wall
of beauty and childlike joy;
i believe in laughter
when you step out the door
and it spills onto the side walk,
down the street, replacing
mundane with imagination;
i believe in silence and afternoons,
the birds that lose their way
in the warm winds,
travelling across blue skies
like the quiet before a storm;
i believe in sunsets that sprinkle
hope in the eyes of
young forlorn lovers,
intertwined finger,
memory in minds
of those who feel heartbeats
and heartbeats before
they fade to a dull
aching memory of
heartbroken love,
home in the hearts
of travellers who fade
like ghosts into the dusk;
i believe in storms
that light the evening
in magenta and fairy lights
that burn into the skin
of the sky: the hour for tears
that melt from souls
of wrinkles and comforting smiles,
the cool drops that sting in the wind
and fuse into hope,
a wistful joy of crushing
bitterness in your fingers
right before it takes over your soul;
i believe in stars,
a billion burning lights
in the sky that twinkle
like slow, breathless passion
that paints instinct
over thought, ecstasy
in her fingers in my hair,
and no one to care for
seconds that countdown to silence;
i believe in midnight,
the quiet, ticking clock
and cinderella's hurried
footsteps down the staircase,
fingertips that almost don't touch,
eyes that whisper in silence;
i believe in words, silent love,
i believe in magic.
Athiest? Not Quite.
They ask me sometimes:
"If you don't believe in God, then what do you believe in?"
As if the universe is so simple, that we should all have the same religion.
But, I'll tell you what I believe in.
I believe in miracles.
I believe in kindness, hope, desperation,
The potential that humanity has,
To be more than our mistakes.
I believe in infinite perspectives, beliefs, ridiculous circumstances.
I believe in exploding, imploding stars,
Entropy,
Creation,
The seemingly endless waltz.
I believe in warmth and beauty,
Laughter, passion,
Struggling, conquering, flailing,
Sobbing.
I believe in cool water on a hot day,
I believe in...
I believe in everything.
Multiple truths, shifting realities,
Love's fingers on my skin...
I believe in possibility.
Belief
I don't believe in God.
I believe in light,
The light that is refracted to create rainbows,
The light that allows us to see,
The light that gives us time and energy and life,
The light that filters through the early morning mist and in the evening glows pink and orange and blue.
I believe in sound,
The sound that allows us to speak to one another,
The sound that lets us know where things are,
The sound that alerts us to danger,
The sound that makes up dawn's birdsong and the tinkling of chimes in the wind.
I believe in the mind,
The mind that gives us the ability to comprehend this beautiful world from different waves of light and sound,
The mind that allows us to feel,
The mind that has the ability to give us emotions just by releasing different chemicals and hormones,
The mind that lets us communicate,
The mind that tells the stories of our lives and talks to us even when no one else is there.
I believe in the planet,
One planet in eight that can sustain life,
One planet in eight that is constantly changing,
One planet in eight that houses water,
One planet in eight that has the correct gasses for our survival,
One planet in eight that we can call home.
I believe in space,
Space that houses thousands upon thousands of galaxies not too dissimilar from our own,
Space that we can see from our little lives on this little planet with our little eyes that can detect the light from stars lightyears away. Stars that may no longer exist,
Space that is so big it is possibly infinite.
I believe in stories,
Stories that can move us and change the way we think,
Stories that open our eyes to the worlds problems,
Stories that give us hope even when the darkness could envelope us,
Stories that mirror our lives and give us insight into the lives of others.
And I believe in us,
In our hearts,
In our minds,
In our lives.
I don't believe in God.
I believe in everything.
