Get Away
My breath came in gasps. My left leg felt numb, far away. I could feel blood running down my face and neck.
By slouching over the broken steering wheel like an octogenarian I could just manage to see through a spot of clear glass in the shattered windshield.
The car was making hideous sounds– the fender scraping the ground, the clatter of the fan hitting the radiator.
You only need to do two things, I told myself. Get as far away as you can, then get off the highway.
I did not want to think about the girl, about why she had chosen my car to jump in front of.
I only knew I hadn't stopped. I panicked and ran.
And I would probably be running from now on.
Playing hard to get
Whenever I see him, his hair is always neatly trimmed. His gold chain dangles when he's on top of me. He always puts his ring on my nightstand and tells me he's leaving her soon. But I don't care I don't want him to leave her for me. He doesn't know I do this with other men. He thinks his tongue is the only one that can drown in my puddle of worked up passion. He thinks I hang on to every word while he whispers in my ear all the things he'd do to me while we'd be in public places.
When I see him, it's two am, and another man is waiting in his car to come in next. When I see him he always wears his suit and tie so I could restrain him to the headboard with his silk tie. When I see him I always show him how I feel.
MORT~
Can you hear the sound of metallic footsteps approaching? Or see the ghosts of your departed loved ones?
Then know that it’s coming. Riding on a golden horse. One that seems to shine more than the blazing sun!
Will you take death’s hand? Ride away to another realm. A place of rest after life on earth.

Temporary Humans
“I heard she’s dating a human,” His eyes studied her as she walked by. “Is she crazy? Humans are such temporary things. It’ll never last.”
“Maybe she’ll finally learn all she needs about the humans and come back home.” She replied, hoping he wouldn’t antagonize over this news for too long.
“She should have never left to begin with.” He raged and stood up suddenly. She stood up to join him, nervous about what he would do. “I won’t let this happen.” There was determination in his eyes as he spread his wings and jumped down to stop her.
Humans
“I heard she’s dating a human.” The farie heard the judgement. Others didn’t understand why she loved him.
“But they die so quickly.”
He was more alive then anyone else. The way he animated his conversations with words or kissed her in thunderstorms had convinced her.
“You could do so much better.”
They said she could do better, and he could too, but they didn’t want that.
“They’re so ordinary. Plain.”
They said he was ordinary. Instead of angle wings or vampire teeth he had mysterious dark brown eyes and dimples when he laughed.
That’s why she loved him.

FEU.
The crowds gathered with torches and pitchforks. Altogether they cried: “Burn the witch!” They threw deformed rotten tomatoes at the young girl.
She bowed her head and tried her best not to look at the folks all out to watch her be burned. A giant roach scurried past her and went rushing under a nearby wooden plank.
The folks all cheered the minute that the witch was tied to the stake. They watched with delight as a burning torch was moved close to the girl’s feet. The fire danced by her body. It swirled and hissed as it increased around her.
It didn’t stop there. The flames roared with rage and flew like fireworks. Some of the flames landed on top of one of the thatched cottage.
The fire on that roof burned and found its way on another cottage. Folks panicked and feared for their homes.
They looked at the stake where the girl had been placed, she was gone. All they heard was the sound of maniacal laughter.
The fire raged on and on. The villagers were distraught. They hoped that their homes would not be too hard to fix, and that the witch was gone.

Hypocrite
"I heard she's dating a human."
"Ugh,`yuck.`Human?`Somebody`get`me`something`to`throw`up`in."
"I think it's cute."
"Cute?`I`ought'a`report`you."
"Now that you mention it..."
"Whaaat?`I`already`paid`my`fines`this`cycle.`You`don't`got`nothin`on`me`no`more."
"What's up with your speech pattern today?"
"Just`trying`something`new."
"Wait... don't tell me-"
"I`don't`know`what`you're`talking`about."
"You've been listening to those Earthen dramas, haven't you?!"
"Thats's`ridiculous."
"You hypocrite!"
"Hey!`I`could`sue`you`for`lowering`my`self-esteem."
"Buddy, if you're watching chick flicks, your self esteem is already at rock bottom."
"You're`mean."
"Judging honorable females of ogling after humans, and you do the very same! Ha!"
"Hmph.`We`are`no`longer`friends."
“I heard she’s dating a human.”
“Does she have clearance to do that?”
“I plan on giving her clearance.”
“Her?!”
“I don’t like it either, but I see the necessity. She’s a ship maintenance worker, but her progress on Earth has been astounding.”
“Isn’t there a better candidate?”
“We thought we had better candidates! Top of their classes, the best and brightest on Home!”
“Ugh, book-smart, but not street-smart. What’s that strange human saying? The first will be last, and the last will be first?”
“Cruel irony. We find ourselves subject to the ideals for which we once criticized them.”
