ballerina
do not break
your pretty toes
for soldiers of tin
you are meant for
a starlit stage,
a snow birch shelf of
trinkets and sage
do not bruise
your nimble heels
for goblins of greed
you are born for
a cloudless night,
a heavenly page of
wishes and flight
do not trade
your kindle sway
for a fairytale end
these cold tin hearts
are paperweights,
a ball and chain of
lifeless fate, and
you are meant
to dance.
left in December
they don't deserve it
hell they didn't earn it
your lips won't heal from how you left them chapped in the cold
when you left me last December
my hands caught your frostbite
my body caught your flu
I was stuck in December
I had no gloves
because you were what keep me from freezing over
I wore your jacket
but you ripped it from my back and tugged on my clavicle
and snapped my neck
your hands lingered so gently over my neck to check if I was still breathing
after I had told you I had love you
you caressed me in your chest
and buried me in the snow
you left your footprints on me
and stomped out my heart
but when you were lonely you came back and uncovered my body in the snow
and you pressed your frozen lips unto mine
and you tried to get my blood flowing
but I was already dead
I felt the heat emitting from your body
longing for my body to keep you warm from the cold
but I just couldn't my heart froze over
and so did my soul
no kiss could cure this frostbite
Let me enter
I'd take your head and cradle your worries away
I'd reach into your mind and pull all the negative thoughts out
I safeguard your soul so you never try to kill it
I'd take your knife and carve my skin
so that I could understand your pain.
I'd bottle up your tears
and bathe in them to immerse myself in your sadness
I'd steal the sun and hang it in your room
so you could be happy
I'd swallow you in my heart
so you would know that I care.
I'd take the rope from your room
and tie it into a bow and wrap life into a present and give it to you.
I'd cut my skin into flowers and shapes to entertain your fantasy
I'll take your demons and invite them to stay in my house
so they wouldn't torment you in the night.
I'd commit suicide if I knew it would make me closer to understand your pain.
I do anything to understand your mind
so just let me in
What I saw with my eyes
I saw the best minds of my generation
stand and watch a bully
rise to the podium
I saw the best minds of my generation
create another holocaust while trying to heal a genocide of hate.
I saw the best minds of my generations
turn the words I love you into a battle cry.
I saw the best minds of my generation
throw their brains in the trash to adopt this new trend of hate.
I saw the best minds of my generations
doubt the young people
and saw their interest in politics as a trend.
I saw the best minds of my generations
draw a pipeline through my history book.
I saw the best minds of generations
suck the color out the sky
and divide it into sections
black or white.
I saw the best minds of my generation
paint a rainbow in blood
I saw the best minds of my generation
entertain fear
I saw the best minds of my generations
try to grow flowers out of the darkest corners of hope.
Try to develop new colors with the colors black and white.
they took the bones of the dead and cracked them
open and found the scrolls to the answer of universal peace.
But I saw the best minds of my generations
line up tanks while trying to create peace.
I saw the best minds of generations
be inclusive but they forgot the minorities.
Yes, I saw the best minds of my generations
create life while creating death
and shooting ones who were fighting for a better future,a better tomorrow in hopes of meeting the horizon.
Thankful for Red
Red, the color of warm flames.
Red, the bag of Doritos.
Red, the can of Coke.
Red, the blood of angry men.
Red, my writing notebook.
Red, the soft color of her hair.
Red, the apple I ate for breakfast.
Red, the reminder that I'm human.
Red, the ketchup I dip my fries in.
Red, the cover of my favorite book.
Best Friends
He looks at her, asleep on his shoulder. She moved slightly and hugs his arm. He smiled to himself and kisses her forehead. He lays his head on hers and closes his eyes.

She looks up at him, smiling. He's still sleep and she doesn't want to wake him up.
"I love you," She whispers.
He smiles softly, "I love you too."
She looks at him, surprise shining on her face. He slowly opens his eyes, his charming smile growing more.

"Why?" she asks, refusing to look at him.
"Because you're smart, funny, nice, cute, quirky, and cute."
She looks at him tears singing her eyes, "you said cute twice."
He grins, "I know."
She smiles and hugs him. She looks up at him and stands on her toes. She leans and kisses him softly.
"I love you," she mumbles.
